It’s time for Simone to reach out to Jackie.
Simone takes her son Michael shopping in preparation for his first year in college. She hopes that Michael will continue to have a close relationship with his brother Miles. Miles is still taking one year off from college. And for Simone, “The clock is ticking.”
Simone asked Heavenly to host a fun game of basketball between the kids and parents for Michael. And Michael says he loves Jackie and wants her there. So Simone will have to put aside her pride and make the call.
Anila and her husband Kiran take Anila’s parents to see the progress of their 14,000 square foot custom home being built in Toya and Eugene’s neighborhood. Both get angry at the fact that Anila’s mother has so many complaints.
Eugene speaks his mind.
Toya asks Eugene to take a daytime bath with her so they can spend some quality time together since things have been so stressful. Eugene agrees to it and takes the time to put some things out on the table that have been bothering him. As of late, he believes Toya has been too snappy with him.
He doesn’t mind Toya having her opinions, he just wishes she was softer towards him when she expresses herself.
Heavenly has to figure out how to discuss a topic that’s important.
Heavenly’s son Zachary is home visiting from school. He’s a pre-med major and passionate about real estate. And he wants to flip homes and build wealth.
Since he’s wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt, she asks him what he thinks about the movement. She didn’t really like that Anila said they are the same since she is also a woman of color as an Indian American woman. But Heavenly doesn’t really like that because she wants people to understand the focus is on black lives and stopping police brutality against black people.
So she has to figure out a way to explain this to Anila without being disrespectful.
Anila and Contessa hash it out.
Contessa and Anila meet up to talk about what happened at the Rahki dinner. Although Anila now realizes that she should stay out of Toya and Contessa’s issues, she doesn’t like what happened with Contessa and her mother. As Contessa tried to leave the Rahki dinner after arguing with Toya, Anila’s mother grabbed her in an attempt to talk her into staying. In Anila’s opinion, this was threatening.
Contessa says Anila is reaching. And Anila’s mother is the one who grabbed her. In heated moments, everyone should keep their hands to themselves. But she apologizes to Anila anyway. They hug it out.
The drama continues.
It’s the day of the family basketball game at Heavenly’s house, the parents versus the kids. Curtis shows up but Jackie doesn’t due to a previous engagement. The parents lose but Heavenly changes the score so it reads that they won anyway.
As the ladies catch up after the game, Heavenly asks Anila if she works. Anila says she does and she’s a blogger. And Heavenly questions if that’s really a job. Toya gets irritated and then says that Anila gets a check, so it’s a job.
This leads to an argument between Heavenly and Toya. Heavenly repeats what Quad said about hearing that Toya couldn’t afford her house and took a loan out. Toya denies this and the screaming match goes on. Then Heavenly calls out Anila for saying they are the same while discussing BLM. For Anila, she wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. But she has experienced racism as well and was even called a “sand n-word” growing up.
After seeing that the conversations are going nowhere, Simone separates everyone and suggests they just call it a night.
