The gang is back at the Atlanta shop after the retreat. No one has heard from Donna still.
As for Young Bae, she’s been struggling lately. There’s been an increase in racism against Asians. Bae had someone be racist to her recently at her apartment. Plus, she was offended by a comment Donna made about the Asian women who were killed in Atlanta. On Instagram, Donna wrote that the victims must have “sucked off” the shooter good.
Cease’s mom comes to town to check on him. They discuss Cheyenne. While Cease feels Crystal is keeping Cheyenne from speaking to him, his mother reminds him that Cheyenne is 17. So she’s going to make her own decisions. She encourages Cease to reach out to Cheyenne to make things right. And when it comes to Suzette, she feels it’s okay for Cease to take a break sometimes.
Cease makes things right with Suzette.
To settle things at the shop, Cease suggests that the Atlanta and New York artists compete and put in $1000 to enter. Whoever does the best tattoo, wins all the money and gets their picture placed on the shop’s wall in a gold frame.
Suzette and Cease hash things out. Cease says that he doesn’t want the drama to make him put Suzette on a shelf. He wants them to get back together. Suzette is fine with this but she wants Cease to start defending her and her kids when they are pulled into the problems with Cheyenne and Crystal. Meanwhile, Suzette says she will try to stay out of Cease’s business with Cheyenne and her mother.
Krystal is victorious.
It’s the day of the tattoo competition. They are all told to cover up the clients’ tattoos in two hours. Miya Bailey opened the first black tattoo shop in Atlanta. And he comes to help judge the competition. In the end, Krystal wins because she covered up an “Aries” tattoo with a robin. And she wins the $5000 prize, as well as the lead tattoo artist position. Bae decided not to compete because she felt it wouldn’t be fair.
Spyder spends time with his wife and three daughters. They flew in from New York. He’s happy to see them and he’s not too concerned that he lost the tattoo competition.
Tati also gets called out.
Bae cooks some Korean food. She asks everyone to use chopsticks instead of forks. While eating, they discuss the shooting in Atlanta. And Tati gets called out when she says that she’s afraid to get a pedicure in the city. Puma tells Tati that this was racist and it’s an ignorant stereotype about Asians. And Bae just wants Tati and others to understand that Asians shouldn’t be fetishized.
Cease says the issue is Donald Trump and his rhetoric has caused an increase in hate towards Asians. Regardless, Bae thinks all people of color should stick together. And as a whole, everyone should fight against racist.
