It was difficult for Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith to film “VH1 Couples Retreat.”

Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris had some controversial moments on “Love And Hip Hop New York.” However, Yandy always focused on their family. While Mendeecees was serving time in prison, Yandy continued to hold down their family and run their businesses. At times, fans of the show were critical. They questioned if Mendeecees would have done the same if it was Yandy who had to serve time in prison. So when Mendeecees said he couldn’t be sure he would have held her down on “VH1 Couples Retreat,” Yandy was devasted. She broke down in tears in her green screen interview.

Mendeecees received a lot of backlash on social media.

Well, Yandy addressed this when she appeared on “The Breakfast Club.”

DJ Envy asked her if it was hard to watch the scene after they filmed. In response to this, Yandy said, “When it happened, it was a conversation. The crazy thing I didn’t even because you know, emotions and adrenaline is running high, that was a scene that was real like, you walking into this fire pit. Everybody sitting around dealing with real stuff. So when it was said, my nerves are still bad. I never felt like I was really meant for TV. I still get nervous. So when it happened, I was already mad because me and him had already been going back and forth about the fact that he said I didn’t write enough or I was always so busy with work and running around that he felt like I should have been more communicative…if that’s even a word. I should have been communicating more.”

Yandy added, “And I was like what? I went through the list, I was doing this, I was doing this, I was doing this.” She continued, “How dare you say I should have communicated more. I was already on one.”

The comments made by Mendeecees Harris embarrassed Yandy Smith.

She said all she could do was run down all she did while he was away. “So in green screen when they asked me how did you feel about Mendeecees saying…I was like wait, ‘He said that?’ I got emotional in green screen. But that night we already had it out because I’m like you really gonna sit in front of people and I say I didn’t do enough after I did this, I did this, I was visiting? So we had it out about something totally different. But when they brought that to me in green screen, some months later, I was like wait a minute, he said that?”

Mendeecees’ comments embarrassed her.

“So it brought back all those emotions again and again. Reality TV is not scripted as you guys know. It’s situational. Would I normally be sitting around a fire pit with these particular people? Some of them yes, some of them no. So that right there is like, you gonna say this in front of these people? Some my friends, some not. And I felt like you embarrassed me. And he felt like, well you embarrassed me saying work was more important, this was more important.”

She continued, “We had to deal with that. And we had to deal with it in real life and real-time.”
