Kandi Burruss Claps Back at NeNe Leakes & Critics of ‘Kandi & the Gang’ Ratings

Kandi Burruss responded to NeNe Leakes.

“Kandi & the Gang” is giving viewers an intimate look at Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker’s OLG business. It hasn’t been smooth sailing at all for the couple either. In fact, they clash over their restaurant often. Kandi feels as if Todd can be too harsh towards their employees. As for Todd, he believes their staff is way too unprofessional. So Todd has pushed for letting some people go. However, Kandi wants to be loyal to those who have been loyal to her. And during a pandemic, Kandi wants to look out for those who continued to come to work while it was hard for restaurant owners to retain staff.

Interestingly enough, loyalty hasn’t kept some of the employees from being critical of Todd and Kandi as business owners. In fact, OLG hostess Shawndreca Robinson said she believes she is underpaid. She also accused Kandi and Todd of “not giving a f*ck” about what happens at the restaurant.

In response to this, Todd said Shawndreca is one of their biggest problems. But Kandi still hasn’t been convinced that Shawndreca needs to be fired. And Kandi appreciates that Shawndreca has been there since day one.

On social media, people have had a lot to say about the ratings. They feel the numbers are too low. It was even suspected that NeNe Leakes threw a little shade about the situation recently.

Well, Kandi addressed this during an interview with Pop Culture. She said, “Oh my God, what is the ratings on her show? I don’t want this to become a big shade-throwing contest between she and I because just like she can throw shade at me, I can throw shade at her. But my whole thing is like I do not understand why she does that.”

Kandi Burruss doesn’t understand why it has to be turned into a competition.

She continued, “Back when she did have a show, me and her wouldn’t even be on the same page. But I still be posting, telling people to watch her show. That’s just how I am. I feel like if we have any type of interaction, I’ma show people support. Not throw salt on you. And I don’t understand why her, I don’t understand why her fans always be treating me like I’m stopping her from doing something.”

Kandi just doesn’t understand the issue, “What did I do to you? What is my show stopping you from doing? Nothing. I saw some of her fans in the comments saying stuff like, ‘That could have been NeNe’s show.'” She added, “If her theory is correct, right, how come Porsha has a show? Porsha has a wonderful show. She has her own show, she’s had two actually.”

She just doesn’t get it, “What about Kim Zolciak? Why it always gotta be me?”

Kandi also stated that other reality stars don’t think to actually pitch their show ideas.

Kandi Burruss discussed the success of her other spinoffs.

“We pitched our show. A lot of them don’t pitch shows. A lot of them just sit there and say, ‘I’m so great that Bravo should just throw a show on my lap. That is not what I do. Me and my husband, we come up with these ideas. And we pitch them. Sometimes the network is for it, sometimes they aren’t. Everything we do does not get picked up. Surprising because I know y’all think everything I do is working. But everything we do doesn’t necessarily go the way we want it to go. But we put ourselves out there to get a yes or no. And that’s what you have to do.”

She also discussed her past spinoffs, “People love to talk about how our first week ratings weren’t as big as they needed to be but the one thing that y’all also didn’t notice is our other show ‘Kandi’s Wedding’ was over 2.4 million viewers.”

Kandi added, “My ‘Xscape: Just Kicking It,’ series was averaging over 1.7 million viewers on the regular. And our ‘Ski Trip,’ 1.4 million viewers on a regular.”

She wants respect, “But my reality shows are the highest rated spinoffs of the other people who had them. Don’t play me like, ‘Why she got…’ because I work for it y’all!”
