Kenya catches up with Marlo, Kandi, and Sheree.
Kenya is at practice with her partner Brandon Armstrong for “Dancing with the Stars.” So she’s been in Los Angeles quite a bit. Kandi and Marlo come by to pay her a visit. Marlo proudly tells the ladies that she got surgery done on her edges. So now she has edges and they are laid down perfectly.
Kenya says that she’s been talking to Brandon a lot and they just click. She loves his personality.
And Marlo says she wants the ladies to come to the Le’Archive to see her business. It’s a fashion showroom where people can come in and rent designer pieces. She’s also been working with Tami Roman and helping her with her style.
Sheree comes in not too long later and it’s a happy reunion. Kenya asks her where Tyrone is and Sheree says he’s back home from prison.
In a green screen interview, Sheree says she’s on great terms with Kenya now. Brooklyn has changed her for the better. And she feels Kenya was evil when they first got acquainted.
Sheree also confirms to the girls that she has been wanting to pause being intimate with Tyrone so she can see who he really is since being released. They aren’t sure this is a good idea. But Sheree is confident he’ll be faithful.
Kenya isn’t fully divorced from Marc yet. Marc is seemingly dragging the process out and she’s over it.
And Kandi admits she and Todd sometimes have dry spells in the bedroom because they are so tired from work.
Sanya and Drew open up about their marriages.
Marlo is still taking care of her nephews Micheal and William. Their mother is in prison. So her life has changed a lot.
Drew and Ralph meet Sanya and her husband Aaron at the gym. The ladies met through a mutual acquaintance and they hit it off instantly. Evan is a former NFL player and he’s won two championships.
Sanya is a retired Olympic Gold medalist. So she easily beats Drew when they race.
They have a side conversation. Drew hasn’t been happy with Ralph’s assistant. She read a text message where the woman told Ralph she should have come to the house and given him a massage.
Marlo sends all the women an invite to her event at Le’Archive. The invite comes with a woman dressed up and a computer in which she plays a video of Marlo talking about the event. Kenya isn’t impressed and felt this was kind of “cheap.”
Aaron and Sanya met at the University of Texas. They have been in love since. Sanya also says her family is Jamaican but she chose to represent America in the Olympics. Although she’s happily in love with Aaron, they did have some tension after she gave birth to their son. It just seemed like he checked out. They want another child but Sanya worries it could hurt their marriage.
Kandi calls out Ralph.
Drew is working on putting her meal plan together for her “Drop It With Drew” weight loss program. So she invites Sanya and Kandi over to taste some of the sample meals her personal chef has been working on. In a green screen interview, Kandi says she and Sanya used to have the same hairstylist. So they have hung out before.
After Drew tells Kandi and Sanya she lost 25 pounds and had a mommy makeover, Sanya and Kandi say they aren’t buying this in a green screen interview. Producers are shady and compare the photos side by side.
They discuss Ralph’s text message exchange with his assistant. She says he fired her after she expressed her concerns. Ralph walks in to join the conversation.
He says that the assistant originally offered to connect him with a massage therapist when he was having back issues. Then she later said she should have come over and given him the message herself. And Ralph didn’t make it better when he responded he’ll remember that for the “next time.”
Kandi has no problem telling Ralph he was wrong. But the couple is moving forward since the assistant has been fired.
Kenya still isn’t impressed.
It’s the evening of Marlo’s Le’Archive event. J-Lo’s famous Gucci dress is there and the others wonder how Marlo got her hands on it. Marlo isn’t there to answer because she’s pretty late.
Kenya shows up after being cut from “Dancing With the Stars.” In a green screen interview, Drew says she wants to have a redo with Kenya after the previous season. They clashed a lot.
When it comes to the event, Kenya throws a lot of shade. She says Marlo didn’t spell the name right. And it’s “dreadful” that she didn’t have a ball since she rented out a ballroom.
Kenya goes there.
Drew pulls Kenya aside and tells her she did great on “Dancing With the Stars.” And she wants them to start over. Kenya agrees to this because she believes their issues were never that deep.
Marlo finally makes her appearance and she has her nephews with her. She confirms that all the pieces are hers. And she rents them out to people in the industry.
In a green screen interview, Marlo says she spent $40,000 on the event. And she’ll easily get $120,000 from this exposure.
Kandi and Kenya have questions about how Marlo makes money.
Kenya continues to be shady. In a green screen interview, Kenya says that she isn’t sure how Marlo makes her money. And maybe she makes money by going out on dates with men. But she’s not saying she has s*x for money. She’s probably paid for her company.
The bone collecting begins.
Sanya and Sheree talk to Marlo. They tell Marlo about all the shade Kenya was throwing. And Marlo says she isn’t surprised seeing how shady Kenya was at her wig launch event. She says the first time Kenya appeared on the show, she had a white refrigerator in her kitchen. And she was driving LisaRaye’s Range Rover. So she should be humble.
Marlo confronts Kenya, Kandi, and Drew for their comments. Kandi says they all were critical, including Sanya and Sheree. Kandi says she only wondered how the business works. In a green screen interview, Kandi says Marlo must be better than her at saving money since she’s still living off the money she got when she dated a billionaire.
As for Marlo, she just thinks she is being hated on by the women. And she calls out Drew for coming there with a French roll. In her opinion, she’s only being hated on because the others don’t understand the fashion world in France.
What are your thoughts on the season premiere?
Okay so I really enjoyed this premiere. There were times I actually laughed and laughed hard. I haven’t done that in a long time watching this show. I’m feeling good about the season. Oh, and Kenya was wrong. She made up with Marlo so there was no need to shade her left and right about her event.
Sorry but this episode was boring. The cast lacks chemistry. I hope this season is as good as the cast says it is.
The husbands are beautiful men. I enjoyed this episode a lot. Seems more like old school RHOA where the relationships seemed more genuine and the shade is light hearted. Drew is messy but it’s good for the show. Always loved Sanya.
Where are the Kenya stans? We now see that Kenya started with Marlo first. Thought y’all said it would be the other way around. LOL.
BOARING!!!!! I was really hoping for a good premier but there is NO CHEMISTRY between the cast.I never been BORED with RHOA like i was Sunday….i will keep my fingers crossed it gets better…really lacked Porsha witty silly confessionals and Cynthia pretty face and laugh.
I agree Gloria and Queen. I missed the days when RHOA wasn’t so dark and draining to watch. This just felt right. I laughed and genuinely am interested in the rest of the season now.
Didn’t miss Porsha at all. She darkens the whole show. Yuck. Her energy is nasty and dark. But Cynthia would be perfect with this cast. I hope she comes back next season. Excellent premiere!
For me this episode proved Porsha, Nene, and Phaedra aren’t really needed. The episode was very funny and the shade was just right. And it’s nice to see real friendships again and the husbands being more involved like they used to be. Good job Bravo.
Porsha can stay on that disaster of a spin-off of hers. Simon too. RHOA is finally fun and funny again. Sanya and her husband are such a beautiful couple.
I think the issue is people started to have favorites on RHOA and this has created unreasonable biases. So now they think RHOA can’t survive without certain people. That’s not true though. RHOA is an ensemble show and it’s not a good show if someone tries to be the Queen Bee. This cast works because everyone is contributing and no one thinks they are the It Girl with producers kissing their butt constantly. Let those who are gone stay gone for at least a couple of seasons.
Enjoyed the Episode. Marlo’s fashion event was very nice and different. Loved Kenya’s dress but was disappointed she was asking about food. In my opinion, what was there to eat matched the event.
