‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Recap: Tariq & Brayden Plot + Effie Withdraws

Saxe and Theo’s deaths kick off a chain of events.

Cane and Tariq scrap after Effie is arrested because Cane believes Tariq set her up. But Tariq denies doing such and points out that burning Effie would only hurt all of them. Maclean breaks up the altercation to assure both men that he will go talk to Effie. The pressure is on now that it’s likely that the feds may figure out Monet’s dirty deeds.

When finally alone, Maclean takes a moment to grieve Theo. He screams out his frustrations.

Jenny breaks down in tears when she sees Saxe’s dead body. She later tells Blanca that Saxe died to aid them in their investigation. And both are convinced that Maclean and Theo planned his death.

Saxe meddles from the grave. Before dying, he penned a letter to Diana telling her Tariq set her up to be arrested and he’s been working with the feds. Monet doesn’t believe this. But she tells Diana to do some digging.

Evelyn tells Dru the truth.

Cane runs down Brayden with his vehicle. Brayden denies working with the feds and he confirms Effie snatched Lauren from him. He had no idea she was still alive. He later talks to Tariq and is disappointed Tariq didn’t tell him Lauren’s status. Regardless, both know they are all in serious trouble.

Dru and Cane know they have to take out the Castillo family now that are slowly putting the pieces together about Gordo’s fate.

Tariq attempts to buy some more time by promising to get green cards for Obi’s family. Obi still stall out Noma for 72 hours. 

Tate figures out Weston Holdings is doing dirt and plans to use this to aid his campaign. 

Jenny becomes emotional from the letter Saxe left for her. He told her he wanted a family with her. And she’s determined to get justice for him.

Tariq tells Brayden he’s going to have to kill Lucas to protect their organization now that Tate sicced the feds on Weston Holdings. Brayden tells Tariq he doesn’t want to turn cold like he did. He knows Tariq killed Ghost.

Lucas contacts the feds to save himself. He pins the Ponzi scheme on Brayden and Tariq. He also confirms their drug operation.

Dru and Cane head to the Castillo family’s restaurant to take them all out with gas. Before Evelyn dies, she tells Dru that Monet caused all of this because she wanted Lorenzo dead. Dru doesn’t tell Cane this. 

Brayden makes a huge sacrifice and Tommy returns.

Diana later sneaks into Tariq’s room and locates the stolen Whitman file. She, Cane, and Dru confront Monet for setting up Lorenzo to be killed by Gordo. They tell her that Lorenzo killed Zeke by mistake. And she was wrong to have him killed. She has no remorse and tells them Lorenzo wasn’t even a good father. Diana goes off and tells Monet she kills every good thing they have had. So she is the one who shouldn’t be alive.

Cane tries to talk Effie into throwing Tariq under the bus. But she refuses. And she tells Cane that what they had was nothing. She doesn’t need his help or Tariq’s.

Brayden tries to convince Lucas to sign a form that assumes all responsibility for the Ponzi scheme so he can run away to another country. But Lucas refuses. He plans to paint it all on Brayden’s father Robbert, Keke, and Brayden’s other “ghetto friends.” Brayden pushes him to his death. Tariq sneaks away seeing as he planned on taking out Lucas for Brayden. 

While Tariq is walking to his car, he’s ambushed by 2-Bit. He confirms that he received a letter from Saxe. And he knows where Tasha and the others are living. In exchange for silence and no harm done, Tariq gives 2-Bit his car. He makes it to the house shortly before Tommy arrives. While Tasha attempts to talk Tommy out of killing her, Tariq sneaks in with his gun drawn. He’s surprised when he finds out from Tommy that Monet told him Tasha’s whereabouts. Tasha knocks Tariq out before he can shoot Tommy. And Tameika tells him that Tasha was kidnapped by an unknown man. Estelle and Yas were found safe.
