Karen Huger has been charged with a DUI and DWI.
“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Karen Huger has managed to stay out of most of the drama between her costars during the current season. Karen tried to bring the group back together. As we reported, Gizelle Bryant doesn’t want to be around Candiace Dillard-Bassett and Wendy Osefo at this point. Wendy and Candiace aren’t feeling Gizelle due to past accusations she made about their husbands. Newbie Nneka Ihim clashed with Wendy and some fans feel the feud is insensitive to their Nigerian culture. Ashley Darby and Candiace have feuded for years. Things only became more tense when Michael Darby sued Candiace for defamation (the suit was dismissed).
Well, Karen may not be feuding with her costars but she’s managed to make the headlines the last several hours.
The Grande Dame of RHOP was charged with DUI and DWI. According to People Magazine, Karen was driving her Maserati in Maryland when she crashed Tuesday night. She was officially charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
Karen has a mandatory court appearance.
The accident has been confirmed to be a “single vehicle collision” so no one was harmed, including Karen. Law enforcement said Karen allegedly crossed a median and struck multiple street signs.
TMZ broke the news. Hours ago, Karen sent the publication a statement.
She said, “Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last night’s incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mother’s Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami. Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider, and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”
Karen i can totally relate to those upsurge of grief moments. It tough. Be kind to yourself your parents would be proud of all you’ve accomplished and your family needs you. Be strong and stay encouraged…..only the veil separates us from them.
Karen is fortunate no one was killed. She needs to get it together.

I’m not demonizing Karen for a dui/dwi if no one was hurt. Addiction/alcoholism is a beast. If she has a drinking problem, I hope she gets the help she needs so no one gets hurt. RHOP is no longer fun to watch. The cast and fans love negativity. They find anything to be outraged by. I’m exhausted. I probably need to move on from the reality tv stuff completely now. Everyone is insufferable for no reason.
