Karen Huger was sentenced today.
“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Karen Huger has been in the headlines for months thanks to her being charged with DUI and DWI. During the current season, Karen told her costars she would be vindicated in court. However, she was convicted in March of last year. Videos of Karen in a drunken state at the scene of the crash made rounds all over social media. Regardless, in a video message Karen did for the reunion, she denied having a drinking problem. She said she was on antidepressants while drinking.
Karen did not physically appear at the reunion because she had checked into rehab. Interestingly enough, prosecutors argued that the rehab program Karen went to was more of a “luxury spa” than a rehab center.
Prosecutors wanted Karen to be sentenced to jail time because they claimed the March 2024 conviction wasn’t her first. She had two prior DUI/DWI convictions. The third one was reportedly pled down to reckless driving.
Earlier today, Karen appeared in court for her sentencing. According to Fox 5 Washington DC, Karen was sentenced to two years with one year suspended. Prior to today’s sentencing, prosecutors told the judge the reality star should serve at least six months behind bars.
I’m so disappointed in Karen. But she needs to serve time! I hope she gets the help she needs so she won’t hurt herself and someone else!
You know what, Karen could’ve did her time at home with an ankle monitor and a breathalyzer test done when she least expects it. This court system is all messed up. This is my opinion and stand by it.
Correct! In no way form or fashion I condone what Karen did. She needed to be punished. However we all know the JUSTICE SYSTEM IS MUCKED UP IN THIS COUNTRY. It depends on the judge and who you are. We know certain celebrities get off with a slap on the wrist 2,3,4 times for the crimes they commit. Tell me that’s fair! JUDGES EVEN ALLOW RAPISTS, KILLERS AND Pedophiles on ankle monitors. Again, no way do I condone drunk driving at all. The only person that is hurt in this situation is Karen and her family, it is a blessing no one else was hurt . How many times you have witness someone out with friends drinking and got in a car and drove home. When an Uber or taxi should have been called. EVERYDAY CRIMES ARE COMMITTED RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES, CRIMINALS SHOOT UP CLUBS, OR A PARK OR A MALL, BANK FRAUD, TAX EVASION, INSURRECTION at 12pm out of jail by 4pm and committing another crime by 7pm. Make it, make sense!!! Yes, punish Karen to a few months in jail and send her to a Mandated Rehabilitation center with an ankle monitor for the remainder of her time or home. Trust me after a few months in prison with a shared toilet, shower and that orange jumpsuit. As my Grandpa would say(“That will learn ya”)!
I pray she gets the help and the tools needed to remain sober and use her status to help motivate others.
I am just trying to say, don’t punish some of the people without punishing the rest of the people who commit the same or far worst of a crime.

I have to agree with you on this one, but celebrities gets away with so much more than ordinary people it’s a fact.
Court Systems not FAIR to Black Americans that’s a fact.

At the reunion, Gizelle said she was told by a reliable source that Karen was offered 6 months of house arrest but she turned it down because she thought she could beat the allegations. I also thought that Karen said she never looked at her arrest video and if she had looked at the arrest video she would have realized that there was no way she could beat the case. Karen could have been seriously hurt or she could have seriously hurt someone else. Karen needs some serious help and soul searching. My heart goes out to Ray.

Well maybe she should have been living in Orange County, maybe she would have received the same sentence as the (2) white ladies on Orange County “NO JAIL TIME” let’s be FAIR.
Of course she should have been arrested for her DUI————-but Karen Huger, not the only Housewive who has been arrested for DUI
I feel bad for Ray and the kids smh. All of this could have been avoided.
Y’all Karen wasn’t going to take this seriously unless they locked her up. This is so sad.

This was Karen’s FOURTH (4th) offense. She needed to be locked up. She could have seriously hurt or killed someone. A 4th offense and you going around calling yourself THE GRAND DAME. Girl, go sit down somewhere and the only reason she treated Wendy so poorly is because Karen is jealous of Wendy and Wendy’s success. I like Karen but she’s got some soul searching to do and now she will have 2 years to do it.
Again, I am not saying or condoning what she did and we are not saying she shouldn’t be Punished.
However, the JUSTICE system in this country has sides which is BLACK OR WHITE, RICH OR POOR, CORRUPT OR STRAIGHT & NARROW.
WE ALL SHOULD BE JUDGE CORRECTLY AND FAIRLY! NO WAY SUSIE COMMITS THE SAME OR FAR WORST CRIME AND SHE IS FREE WHY CARISA SITS IN JAIL FOR THE SAME OR LESSER CRIME.
The biggest Drug Dealers are not in jail. However who is paying price for it and serving time??????

No way do I condone drinking and driving, but prison? Others have done worse and got less time. Karen was used to make an example of. Her last DUI was over 10 years ago, there’s drivers with much more recent charges who are still driving without jail time.
