On the season premiere of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Shamea makes her official debut as a housewife. Plus, Porsha and Kenya have tension with the newbies. Here are the highlights for, “Welcome Back Peaches.”
It’s time for Shamea to have her own spotlight.
The season premiere begins with Porsha confirming her split from Simon. She says the demise of their marriage caught her off guard because they were so happy. While some may think this is her karma, Porsha knows she always ends back up on her feet.
Shamea is living the luxurious life in her $9 million home. She met her husband Gerald at a club in Atlanta years ago. They have two children. Their youngest is 15 months and they had her via a surrogate. She was born prematurely.
Shamea is the glue that holds the group together. This isn’t easy when people aren’t getting along.
Drew confirms her working relationship with Dennis.
Kenya and her daughter Brooklyn go to Drew’s. Ralph is currently living in their basement, per the court order. They only communicate via an app the judge watches closely. She’s been making music with “Porsha’s Dennis.” When Kenya questions if this is Porsha’s child’s father, Drew says it is. Music has been his passion and he’s been very helpful during this process.
Drew doesn’t think Porsha has a problem with her working with Dennis.

Kelli throws a lavish tea/birthday party for her daughter Chloe. She’s turning 17. Kelli has been going through a contentious divorce. Police have been called. Regardless, she wants her daughters to still be spoiled. That way they won’t ever settle. Luckily, Kelli is a savvy business woman. She has a successful waffle restaurant and new product lines launching soon.

Porsha meets with her divorce attorney. Simon put out a cease and desist on their home, so she can’t film the show inside of the house.
The tension continues for Porsha and Drew.
Kelli, Brittany, and Shamea get drinks to celebrate Shamea’s birthday. Porsha’s divorce comes up. Kelli questions why Porsha “stole that lady’s man.” In her opinion, Porsha is getting her karma. However, Shamea clarifies that Simon and Falynn had a very nasty and public split before Porsha was in the picture.
When Drew is brought up, Shamea says she heard that Drew and Dennis were holding hands inside a club recently. Brit works in the insurance business. She went on a date with Dennis a long time ago. He bought her jewelry but the romance went nowhere. She was also a “video vixen” while she was in high school and posed for men’s magazines.

Shamea later relays her conversation with Kelli and Brittany to Porsha. Porsha is used to people judging her based on rumors they read on blogs. But she’ll match whatever energy they bring her way.
Drew and Dennis possibly holding hands is the last straw for Porsha. She thinks Drew has been moving very weird, despite Porsha supporting her RHOA journey and hiring her to be an ambassador for her hair line, Go Naked Hair.

The newbies meet the vets.
Shamea’s house is lively as guests start rolling in for her birthday celebration. Cynthia is impressed by how grand the house is. During a green screen interview, Shamea reveals Gerald’s success comes from doing the HVAC for major airports.
New wife, Angela makes her debut. She is married to retired NBA player, Charles Oakley. She’s from Chicago, just like Drew. They have bonded over sharing the same hometown.
Kenya meets Kelli and Brittany. Brittany is offended by Kenya asking where her wedding band is. She and Kelli clap back in their confessionals. They believe this was shade and Kenya isn’t in the position to shade anyone’s ring situation when her marriage didn’t work out.

Kelli annoys Porsha.
Porsha arrives at the party late and Shamea isn’t thrilled. But Gerald gifting her a Rolls Royce makes it easy for her to move on.

Kelli thinks it was messy for Shamea to tell Porsha what she said. But it’s time for Kelli to say how she feels to Porsha’s face. She asks Porsha why she stole Simon from Falynn. Porsha thinks this is a ridiculous question. She tells Kelli to stop talking to her. During a confessional, Porsha says Kelli is trying way too hard to shine.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger when Drew is asked if she’s dating Dennis.
What are your thoughts on the Season 16 premiere?
You know I actually enjoyed this premiere. Kelli and Brit were trying too hard but I respect the fact they aren’t scared of the vets. I’ll give this season an honest watch.
I get it now. Porsha married Simon in an attempt to have the lifestyle Shamea and her husband really have.
The most BORING episode I have watched!!!
This episode was better than the entire last season. I think some of the fans won’t ever move on from the OGs but I’m here for the new girls. They are asking all of the right questions. They aren’t afraid of Porsha and Kenya. This is exactly what RHOA needed to move forward. I’m curious to see how Phaedra will fit in later.

I give the premiere a 7 mostly because Porsha looked SO D*** GOOD especially that black and white in her confessionals. I hate Porsha n Drew beefing they my two faves.
I understand that the newbies want to be treated with respect and full status, but they trying to hard right out the door. Let me see you a few times before going for someone’s neck.
