
On the latest episode of “Raising Kanan,” Raq and Marvin are forced to act as the business is tested. Famous’ fate is revealed. Here is the recap for, “The Nail That Sticks Up.”
Famous’ mom is worried.
The episode begins with a flashback scene of Famous when he was very young. A man comes to his home and roughs him up, demanding to be given the money Famous stole from him. Luckily, his older sister Jessica and mother Olga are there to keep him safe. After the man is shot, they seek refuge in a shelter for a new start. This turns out to be one of Olga’s memories.
In the present, Olga tells the police she has no idea where Famous is. He’s been gone for two months, and she doesn’t feel like the authorities have taken the matter seriously. Since there is a warrant out for his arrest, one of the detectives thinks Famous is on the run. But he suggests she ask Kanan about Famous’ whereabouts since he’s been heavy into the street life.
Karan’s associate O-Cee questions what they will do if Raq finds out Kanan has been stealing money, especially with them currently being low on product. Kanan tells O-Cee it’s not his concern.
Juke has no regrets.
Jukebox meets with Mara at a diner. She questions if Jukebox had anything to do with the break-in that resulted in her abusive ex-husband Aaron, dying. Juke lies. She says she had nothing to do with it. And she asked for Aaron’s address so she could locate Mara if he kidnapped her again. Regardless, Mara is relieved Aaron is gone.
Marvin’s injuries are taken care of by Juke. As she removes the bandages, he asks her how she’s doing. Taking a life can be hard to process.
Juke assures Marvin she’s fine. Cops think it was a robbery, and Mara is relieved Aaron is dead. When Marvin questions if the army made her comfortable with killing, Juke tells Marvin it’s not the army she learned that from.
Unique tries to make a deal to take down Raq with Boselli’s former crew. But they aren’t interested in going against Stefano. And as far as they know, Raq wasn’t the one who set up Unique.
Quan cuts off Raq.
Olga meets with Kanan and Juke to find out where Famous could be. But they are just as clueless as her. They leave her to help their grandmother Joyce. She’s got much weaker from cancer. She fell. Juke calls an ambulance.
Raq’s meeting with Quan is a disaster. He tells her he is done supplying her drugs. He met with Kanan recently. On the way out, Raq receives a page about Joyce.
Lou is the first of the siblings to make it to the hospital. The doctor says Joyce will need around-the-clock care moving forward.
After Quan pulls out on her, Raq calls an impromptu meeting with Hafiz. He is not pleased since he told her he would get back in touch with her. But he agrees to meet with her partners. They can move forward if all goes well.
Joyce begs Marvin to put her out of her misery while he’s visiting her at the hospital.
Terry goes too far.
Unique picks up O-Cee. He tells Unique that Kanan and Raq were robbed recently. Quan is cutting up. Kanan is also stealing money.
Pernessa rolls up on Raq to ask her if she’s the one who has been leaving cash in her mailbox. Raq says she didn’t do this. But Pernessa thinks Raq did it out of guilt for killing Unique.
Raq says she didn’t kill Unique.
Marvin attempts to scare some sense into Terry. He doesn’t want to store their drugs in his businesses anymore. But Terry doesn’t back down to Marvin’s threats. He’s going to the police.
Marvin kills him.
Kanan is devastated.
Lou Lou hooks up with his co-worker Imani. They have been bonding over new artists lately.
A young man steals from a convenience store. He and the clerk discover a corpse. Olga is contacted to identify Famous’ body. She breaks down into tears.
Unique rolls up on Quan to have a conversation. Quan tells Unique he thought he was dead.
Marvin almost goes through with granting Joyce her request. But he can’t bring himself to do it. She goes off on him until he leaves her room.
Kanan receives a phone call informing him that Famous is deceased. He cries uncontrollably.
