Evelyn Lozada said her grandmother disliked her due to colorism.

Basketball Wives” star Evelyn Lozada has been staying busy. When she isn’t filming the show, she records a podcast (Drop the Lo Podcast) with her daughter, Shaniece Hairston. Evelyn will sometimes use the platform to discuss “Basketball Wives” drama. She also conducts interviews with special guests and addresses rumors here and there. Interestingly enough, Evelyn’s mother, Sylvia Ferrer, was a recent guest on a past episode of the podcast. In this particular episode, Evelyn opened up about her childhood. She and Sylvia revealed the reality star didn’t have the best relationship with her grandmother. Both feel like Evelyn’s grandmother didn’t care for her because she had a darker skin tone.

Sylvia said, “Yeah, she was a little racist. She was.”

She also said that Evelyn would see a relative close in age receive preferential treatment. Her grandmother took the child to a Disney theme park, but she refused to take Evelyn, too.

Evelyn said, “People don’t really talk about this, but there is that in family, like colorism. I don’t want to go into a deep dive because then it becomes…yeah, but I think…”

Sylvia added, “And I don’t know why because my grandfather was Black, dark skinned.”

Shaniece asked Sylvia, “Wasn’t your mom darker than me?”

Sylvia answered, “Yes, my mother was darker.”

When Shaniece asked Evelyn if she could sense that her grandmother disliked her when she was a child, Evelyn said she knew.

“Yeah, I knew. Like she took Dee Dee to Disney, and she was like I’m not taking her,” Evelyn said.

Evelyn also said that her father was treated the same way by her grandmother. She suspects it was also due to his complexion.

  1. Evelyn became just like her grandmother. She really thinks no one can see through this damage control campaign.

  2. When OG brought up colorism, they acted like she was making it up. At that point, Evelyn could have talked about her experience with it and a real conversation could have been had. Now, like the poster mentioned above, she is trying to do damage control regarding her past actions surrounding colorism.

  3. I didn’t see the reason for comment 😕. Evelyn good at bullying and when it comes to her she can’t take it
