Robyn Dixon was critical of Karen Huger’s interview on her podcast with Gizelle Bryant.
“Real Housewives of Potomac” fans recently took to social media to share their thoughts on the televised interview Andy Cohen did with Karen Huger. Karen talked about her time in prison. She also responded to the comments made about her during last season’s reunion.
Some fans expressed that they were pleased with Karen’s interview. They felt like the Grande Dame took accountability for being convicted of DUI. However, some “Real Housewives of Potomac” viewers felt like Karen didn’t take enough accountability. And they think she placed more blame on her pill addiction than alcoholism.
Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon discussed the sit-down interview on “Reasonably Shady.” Robyn said Karen seemed like the same person she remembers.
“I saw the same person. The same person from years prior. The same person that I’ve known from over the years. That was the same person who did that interview.”
Gizelle asked, “What do you mean by that?”
Robyn answered, “A lot of the same deflection.”
She explained, “I feel like there was some accountability, but not in a…What I really wanted to see from her was a sincere apology or sincere acknowledgment of drunk driving is never ok. I apologize to all of the victims and victim’s families of drunk drivers. It’s a really serious matter. I really wanted to see her address that topic and just kind of say, ‘What I did was never acceptable.. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.'”
Robyn continued, “And what I felt like I saw was a lot of blame shifting and then a lot of deflection and a lot of trying to…I don’t know. It was almost like she didn’t want to embrace the alcoholism part and was putting it more on the prescription drugs. I felt like that was in a way trying to blame whomever prescribed her these drugs.”
She also said it was “unnecessary” for Karen to shade Wendy.
“Even trying to be shady towards Wendy. That was unnecessary.”
Robyn went on to say, “I’m just saying, her throwing a dig at Wendy because she lives far away, and ‘Who would talk to Wendy?’ That was unnecessary. No, let’s just take accountability. Let’s not deflect. Let’s kind of address the topic head-on and be kind of remorseful, and let’s try to send a message to people out here like, ‘I am sorry because I know a lot of people have lost loved ones from drunk drivers, and that is never okay.'”
Those who get kicked off reality shows talk podcast about people on reality shows
I agree. I like Karen but I don’t think she learned anything at all and her beef with Wendy makes no sense.
Yes. When a person gets out of rehab and says alcohol wasn’t the problem it was pills prescribed by a doctor are essentially setting up an excuse for when you see them drinking later.
Everyone knows rehab wants you to go straight on everything – including staying out of surroundings with drinking, etc.
Wendy had a lot to say about Karen’s arrest
I often wonder if these reality tv people listen to themselves talk. Robin is the last one to talk about anybody not being accountable or deflecting. She is talking about herself. She was fired from the show because she hid a whole storyline about her husband. She is mad because she wanted to come back and was not allowed but Karen was (even if it may only be for this interview). Karen is damned if she does and damned if she doesnt. She told her truth but people want her to tell it the way they spreaded it. She admitted to drugging and drinking and identified which one was the bigger problem FOR HER. Both can cause the same drunken effect together or separately and result in a DUI(for drugs or alcohol). She apologized for her actions that night, the judge sentenced her accordingly and she did her time. Yes, it could have gone another way, it could have caused severe injury or death to herself or someone else, but thank God it didnt. Unfortunately, yes many people have lost someone to drunk driving, but why does Karen have to be accountable for everybody elses’s discretion in order for her apology to be acceptable to Robin.
I’m not mad at Karen. Sh*t happened. She got caught up and did time.
She owes no one an explanation especially fake friends.
I hope she doesn’t return to RHOP because she has been put down enough by her costars.
She needs to start healing.
It was all necessary! The pot can’t call the kettle black without expecting a scouring.
Robin is the last person that should say anything about not being accountable or deflecting. She was fired from the show because she hid a whole storyline about her cheating husband. She is mad because she wanted Bravo to bring her back after that but they didnt but allowed Karen the opportunity to come and have an interview and possible re-join the show. Karen is damned if she does and damned if she doesnt. She told her truth but people want her to tell it the way they spread it. She acknowledged that she had a problem with prescription drugs and alcohol and identified which one was the most issue FOR HER. They both have the similar effects and both can result in the same( a DUI). It appears for some reason everybody wants her to speak on the alcohol and nothing else or she is not being accountable and didnt learn anything. She admitted to it, apologized for it, was judged, given a sentence and she did her time. Yes it could have gone another way with her causing severe harm or death to herself or someone else, but thank God that didnt happen. Yes, several have lost loved ones because of drunk drivers, but why does Karen have to be condemned for everyone else’s indiscretions in order for her story and apology to be accepted by Robin. If you see her on tv again because of another DUI, then perhaps you can say, she didnt learn anything but for now let it be over and done.
