Kandi Burruss’ ‘The Kandi Factory’ Struggles in Ratings

Kandi Burruss‘ spin off show disappoints in ratings? It seems like all, well most of, the cast members of Real Housewives of Atlanta are getting their chance at spin-off shows. Talk suggested earlier on that the re-engaged NeNe Leakes was about to get her own spin-off show, along with Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks. NeNe happily announced her show I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding in the midst of clapping back at one of her half-sisters’ threat to expose her, NeNe and her half sister now locked into a Twitter beef with each other. As for Kandi, her spin-off show has kicked off and it’s one that is centered around music. Though Kandi got her shot at a show of her own, things started off on the wrong foot from the pilot episode of The Kandi Factory when winning contestant Matthew Solomon blasted Kandi for supposedly making false promises to him about what his prize would be.

The Kandi Factory contestant isn’t the only one who isn’t feeling Kandi at the moment as her and Kim Zolciak are still at it over baby names and the lawsuit that Kandi slapped Kim with over the ‘Tardy for the Party’ song that gave Kim her shot at a singing career, Kim feeling that the whole thing is for publicity purposes only. While Kandi and Kim are battling over song royalties, both of their shows air on Tuesday nights, Kim’s spin-off Don’t Be Tardy back for a second season. And so far, Kim is the one who is coming out on top with the ratings.

According to Bravo Ratings, this past Tuesday, April 16th, Kim Zolciak’s show is steadily bringing in the numbers. Kim’s first episode of Don’t Be Tardy attracted 1,157,000 with 695,000 of the viewers being between ages 18 to 49 years. And she saw an increase in viewership with the second episode at 1,259,000 viewers, keeping the numbers pretty steady.

The ratings for Kandi’s show however are on the disappointing side as The Kandi Factory opened with 671,000 viewers and saw only a 1,000 viewer increase with the second episode.

NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak have certainly had their share of issues with each other on Real Housewives of Atlanta. And as for Season 5 of the show, things between Kim and NeNe didn’t get much better as Kim made an early exit. Though Kim didn’t stay around for the remainder of the season and started to channel more of her attention to her issues with Kandi, that didn’t mean that the beef that her and NeNe had going on was over, Kim and NeNe coming after each other on social media networks. Her relationship with NeNe just recently took an interesting turn though when NeNe told In Touch Weekly that she would be inviting Kim to her wedding. Kim responded to NeNe’s comments and said that she is looking forward to NeNe’s invite. Though NeNe got emotional over her truce with Kim, it doesn’t seem like they share the same thoughts about where they stand with each other. Extra caught up with both NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak and Kim was asked if she talked to any of the other women from RHOA. And Kim responded by saying:

“I do talk to NeNe, which is I know surprising to a lot of people. But we’ve had a long chat and we’re in a really good place…She matters more to me I think than anyone [on the show] because we were friends before ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’.”

NeNe had a little something different to say about her and Kim’s makeup:

“Lately, people have been saying that Kim and I are back friends. What I feel like what Kim and I did was let the past be the past and agree to move forward. But I think the word ‘friend’ is a very strong word.”

Sounds likes Kim and NeNe aren’t on the same page.

NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak’s feud has been a very nasty one, especially when one remembers that both reality stars were very good friends before they embarked on their Real Housewives of Atlanta stardom. Over the years, it’s been plenty of back and forth and trading of insults in interviews, at reunion shows, and even on their social network accounts. Things got so nasty between them during filming of season five that a pregnant Kim Zolciak decided to quit the show and instead just focus on her own spin-off show Tardy for the Party. However, it appears that NeNe and Kim have reconciled and called a truce in the form of a wedding invitation.

As we reported recently, NeNe Leakes has confirmed that she is planning to invite Kim to her second wedding to ex husband Gregg. NeNe told In Touch Weekly that she wanted to invite Kim because she’d like to end the feud and work on the friendship that ended thanks to their time on reality television. Kim responded and told In Touch Weekly that she will be attending the wedding, but most importantly she is looking forward to repairing their friendship.

It appears the rekindled friendship is also causing both ladies to be emotional these days, as both NeNe and Kim admitted on Twitter that the ending of their feud has given them both peace. In fact, NeNe says it actually brought her to tears. NeNe tweets (read from the bottom up):

We have to wonder if this truce means Kim Zolciak could be making a return to Real Housewives of Atlanta. It’s not far-fetched, especially since Kim said recently that she would return to the show if the terms were right.

NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak’s feud made for good TV when it comes to the Real Housewives of Atlanta series, but in real life, a friendship which began before both were reality stars was severely damaged. In fact, things got so bad between NeNe and Kim that Kim decided to just quit the show and walk away from the series forever, and Bravo’s decision to renew her spin-off show for a second season made it that much easier to give the other housewives the deuces. NeNe said the friendship couldn’t be rekindled, but the other day she admitted to In Touch Weekly that now she wants a truce and she wants to invite Kim to her wedding:

“[Kim’s] invited to my wedding, and I believe she’ll come. I’m extending an olive branch.”

Kim has decided to respond to NeNe’s invitation, and surprisingly, the reality star was positive and sounds open-minded to the peace offering. Kim tells In Touch Weekly:

“I have always been and I continue to be happy for NeNe, and I look forward to being invited to the wedding. NeNe and I started this journey together and although we have had our ups and downs, I am excited to get our friendship back on track.We were friends long before RHOA, and we will be friends long after RHOA if it’s up to me.”

Good stuff. We love to see friendships get back on track after reality television destroyed them.

There’s still no word yet on when NeNe and Gregg plan on tying the knot a second time, but NeNe did say recently that they’re shooting for the month of June for now.

If it’s one beef that seems to just keep going and going in the Real Housewives of Atlanta circle, many would say it’s the ongoing feud between NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak. NeNe and Kim used to be friends and even before both agreed to do the reality show, they ran in the same social circles. NeNe even takes the credit for how Kim got a spot on the show, but unfortunately, their friendship would go sour thanks to on-screen drama. In the end, the drama jus got to be too much for Kim, and not only is she not on good terms with her once upon a time friend, but she also quit the show before season five came to an end. Kim has another season of her spin-off show Tardy for the Party on the way, but her exit from RHOA hasn’t lessened the drama in her life. As we recently reported, Kandi Burruss is suing Kim over her Tardy for the Party song, and it also appears that Kim and Kandi’s friendship is over as well.

Interestingly enough, NeNe Leakes might have said the friendship is dead but she tells In Touch Weekly that she’s ready to call a truce and even plans to invite Kim to her wedding. NeNe says:

“[Kim’s] invited to my wedding, and I believe she’ll come. I’m extending an olive branch.”

It will be interesting to see if Kim will really show up, but we have to wonder if Kim will get an invite to Kandi’s wedding as well. Right now, it surely doesn’t look that way.

Kim Zolciak may no longer be on Real Housewives of Atlanta anymore, but the reality star says her greatest gift from her time on the series would have to be her husband and Atlanta Falcons player Kroy Biermann. Kim credits the show for how she met Kroy and although she is in the midst of a legal battle with former RHOA cast mate Kandi Burruss, there’s a set of legal papers being filed that don’t mean bad news for Kim Zolciak. According to multiple reports, those close to Kroy are claiming the football paper has started filing the paper work required to adopt Kim’s daughters.

The Inquisitr reports:

According to several sources, Biermann has begun filing the adoption paperwork for both 15-year-old Brielle and 11-year-old Ariana.

The process for adoption in Georgia is a bit lengthy, but, after completed, Kroy Biermann will officially be the dad to both girls.

Sources close to the NFL player say he considers the girls his own, so he wants to step up and take the next step.

Kim gave Kroy her blessing, and both of the girls are happy to call him dad. Kim Zolciak and her ex-husband have been divorced for a while, and he has been completely out of the picture since the divorce was finalized. Ex-husband Daniel Dominic Toce was imprisoned in 2011 after he molested a 15-year-old girl. Toce was recently released from jail and is now registered as a sex offender.

Once Kroy heads to court in April, he just needs a judge to sign off on the adoption and it will become official.

The Kandi Burruss Kim Zolciak feud is still on and popping. Kandi and Kim’s relationship hadn’t been quite right ever since Kim made her comments about Kandi’s new house. And their beef continued after Kandi accused Kim of stealing her baby name. Kandi and Kim’s feud has now gotten legal as Kandi hit Kim with a lawsuit over the single ‘Tardy for the Party’. Kandi explained why she was suing Kim while Kim called BS on the whole thing, saying that it is all just a publicity stunt that Kandi is trying to pull. Kandi has shared her side and now Kim’s camp is coming forward in her defense and says that there are a few things you should know about this lawsuit of Kandi’s.

In a released statement, Kim’s rep Mike Paul says that the lawsuit that Kandi is filing against Kim is “without merit”. And as far as how Kandi handled things when it came to the song, Paul says Kandi was ‘messy’ with it and questions why Kandi waited so long to pull something like this on Kim. Mike Paul also says that the all the facts should be known and he credits Kim and her daughter for being the original creators of the song before Kandi even became apart of the show. Kim’s rep also thinks that the timing of Kandi’s lawsuit seemed very suspicious as Kandi is said to be attempting to launch her own spinoff.

Here’s the statement that was released by Kim’s rep Mike Paul:

The lawsuit led by Kandi Burruss and Rodney Richard aka Don Vito against Kim Zolciak-Biermann over the song “Tardy For The Party” is without merit and suspicious in its timing. We also find the handling of the lawsuit by another cast member on the show, and the timing of Kandi’s attempt to launch her own spinoff reality show, raises serious questions about the true motives behind the filing this lawsuit for alleged record royalties due from a song that was released over three and a half years ago.

The song was created by four people who share in the royalties: Kim, her daughter (who co-wrote the original song in season one of the RHOA show before Kandi joined the show in season two) Kandi and Don Vito. To date, Kim has written checks to Kandi and Don Vito in excess of $23,000. In fact, we believe that Kim may have overpaid a portion of their share to date based on the actual record sales.

It is clear to us the lawsuit was brought solely for the purpose of publicity because the facts are not in Kandi’s favor. Kandi Burruss and her legal team are well aware of the truth regarding the song and the payments Kandi and Don Vito received from Kim. That is a clear fact.

But we find the greatest truth in the fact that Kandi Burruss has been in the music business for many years and it appears she has made many mistakes in dealing with the song. We assume this has been a major lesson for Kandi. Maybe focusing on her next 15 minutes of fame should not have been the priority for Kandi versus three and a half years after the song was released, Kandi realizing she handled all aspects of the song in a very sloppy and messy way. We understand it is not the first time either. As Kandi is also a music industry veteran, it is also a shame.

Kim Zolciak isn’t the only one that has something to say about Kandi Burruss as the winner from season one of Kandi’s competition show The Kandy Factory Matthew Solomon put her on blast for not holding up her end of the deal for him winning on the show, which included him receiving a song written by Kandi and having a music video produced by Kandi’s team, in tweets obtained by Rhymes with Snitch:

“Haven’t heard from Kandi since the show. Sorry you can’t download my song. Wow Kandi, I got you a new season and u lied about what u promised. Using Kim for press.”

Kandi Burruss and Kim Zolciak used to be friends. Unfortunately for the reality stars of Real Housewives of Atlanta, a song would ruin a friendship and be the cause of a lawsuit. As we recently reported, Kandi is suing Kim because she claims she didn’t receive her proper cut for writing Kim’s single “Tardy for the Party.” She’s also decided to have fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks represent her in the suit. Kim, however, thinks the lawsuit is nothing more than a publicity stunt, and claimed on her Twitter account that Kandi was paid for writing the song.

Kandi recently chatted it up with Hip Hollywood, and she explained why she decided to file a suit against Kim. She even admitted that she didn’t want to file a lawsuit, however, she feels she really didn’t have any other option in handling the matter.

She says:

“It’s time for the whole ordeal to be over. I asked TuneCore to take the song down in December 2012. They did. Kim sent an affidavit to put it back up, which they did. TuneCore then informed me that in order for the song to be taken down permanently I would need to file suit to have it removed. I never wanted to go that route but after being told that it is the only way to get the song removed, I had no other choice.”

Kim told TooFab that she has documents to prove that Kandi was actually “overpaid.” She says:

“This is nothing short of a publicity stunt, I find this lawsuit funny yet sad. Coming after me now and this song is 4 years old? I have in fact overpaid Kandi and have documents to prove it and my legal team will handle this accordingly.”

Interestingly enough, Kim’s daughter Brielle claims she was the original songwriter for the song, but Kandi claims the song was such a “joke” when she got it, she had to rewrite the entire thing. Brielle wasn’t so happy about that, either (read the tweets from top to bottom):

Kandi Burruss suing Kim Zolciak over “Tardy for the Party?” The Kandi Burruss Kim Zolciak beef is far from over. Kandi and Kim explained the beef that they had with each other before, the beef being centered around the baby name Kash that Kandi claims Kim jacked from her, Kim claiming otherwise. And even with Kim no longer appearing in the remaining episodes of the show this season after making an early departure, that didn’t mean that things were all well and good between her and Kandi as the baby name situation was brought up again, Kandi still making it known that she still feels some type of way about Kim supposedly stealing her baby name. Turns out though that there is another form of “Kash” that Kandi is coming after Kim for as she is suing Kim Zolciak over her hit single “Tardy for the Party,” Kandi filing the suit over Kim not properly compensating her for the work she did on the song.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the US District Court of the Northern District of Georgia. Both Kandi and co-writer Rodney Richards are seeking “damages for copyright infringement due to Defendants’ unauthorized and unlawful licensing, distribution and sale of Plaintiffs’ creative works, namely a sound recording embodying a performance of a musical composition entitled “Tardy for the Party.”

Even though “Tardy for the Party” dropped awhile ago, Kandi Burruss is still looking for what she thinks is her rightful cut from Kim and has taken legal action against her. However, other reports are claiming Kandi didn’t secure an agreement over royalties, and the rights to the song were given to Bravo.

Kim Zolciak on the other hand, thinks Kandi is doing this all for one thing and one thing only: Publicity. And Kim credits her daughter Brielle as the original songwriter, not Kandi:

NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak getting into it with each other is nothing new for those who have been following the Real Housewives of Atlanta series from the very start. And while two of the show’s original cast members continued to patch up their off and on friendship on numerous occasions in the past, it was made very clear with season 5 of RHOA that there was going to be no mending things between NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak. After having enough of all the drama, Kim Zolciak decided it was time to make some moves and left from the scene for the remainder of the season. And Kim said that she had no plans of making a return for season 6 either. Thinking Kim’s reasoning that she gave for leaving the show was complete nonsense, NeNe responded by saying that Kim was flat out lying about why she was leaving. Kim fired back at NeNe for being a ‘hater’ and confirmed the fact that she was offered a spin off show of her own and even later seemed to change her mind about leaving RHOA. During an airing of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, NeNe spoke on how the mood of the show changed once Kim left. And she said that with Kim gone, the remaining cast members seem to get along much better:

“The mood definitely changed once Kim left the show. I feel like the girls get along so much better now that she’s gone,”

As NeNe has thrown shade at some of the other housewives that have left the show, she did admit that she was somewhat sad about seeing them leave:

“However, every girl that has left the show that I began the show with I’ve always felt some kind of way about it. A little part of me felt kind of sad about it because we started this journey together.”

And even though her and Kim are not the best of friends as of now, NeNe still remembers how things started out between them:

“It’s kind of sad because we began the journey together, and we were on this journey for a reason and now that I’m the only one standing, I have my own little pity party. Me and Kim didn’t get along but I think about how we all were together in the beginning.”

Reality star Kenya Moore has definitely made a name for herself on her first season on Real Housewives of Atlanta. The former Miss USA has had the most drama on season five so far, and it’s clear that she won’t be calming down anytime soon. Moore’s biggest controversy as of now would easily have to be the one that involves her on screen romance with Walter Jackson. Late last year, Jackson went on an Atlanta radio station (V-103) and claimed Kenya asked him to pretend to be her boyfriend for the cameras, and they haven’t been romantically involved for three years. Kenya denied the accusations, but many, including Wendy Williams, believe Walter is telling the truth, especially since it’s no secret that Bravo requires that all housewives be in romantic relationships.

Besides her alleged fake romantic relationship with Walter Jackson, Kenya has easily taken NeNe Leakes’ reign as the designated “mean girl” on the show. She’s managed to ruffle feathers already with Cynthia Bailey, Phaedra Parks, and Porsha Stewart. Of course, it’s clear that her biggest beef is with Porsha, and after trading many insults and almost coming to blows during the trip to Anguilla, both ladies agree that they can never really be friends at this point.

Well, it looks like Kenya is now shading a new housewife these days. In a recent interview with In Touch Weekly, after the publication asked Kenya if she feels she take Kim’s spot as a “fan favorite,” Kenya claims she knows without a doubt that she is the “new star of the show.” But of course, because she’s Kenya, she had to stay true to her mean girl image and shade Kim in the process. She says:

“Like Kim, I’m a strong personality. If I don’t like something, I speak up. [The only differences are] I don’t chain-smoke. And I don’t constantly have a goblet of wine in my hand.”

Oh the shade.

In related news, Kenya’s “replacement” of Kim Zolciak may be short-lived, as it’s possible that Kim will return to the series next season, even though her spin-off show is set to premiere in the spring.

Is Kim Zolciak coming back to RHOA? Kim Zolciak is one of the few original Housewives that still remains on the show as the cast continues to go through changes season after season, adding some new faces to the bunch. And during her time on the show, Kim has found herself knee deep in drama on plenty of occasions, bumping heads with some of her cast mates and even her own parents at times. And after one of her most noted beefs with NeNe Leakes took an ugly turn, some viewers wondering if Kim Zolciak coming back to RHOA was even going to happen. While Kim found herself at odds with other cast mates aside from NeNe, their beef was an ongoing one that escalated again during this season of the show, getting to the point where Kim admitted to not feeling safe around her former homegirl anymore. After years of being apart of the reality TV show, it was apparent to some of her fellow cast mates that Kim was growing tired of all the fighting and bickering that went on and decided that this was going to her last season. And once the news broke in concerning Kim Zolciak coming back to RHOA, revealing that Kim was quitting the show, the beef between NeNe and Kim picked up just a tad bit more as NeNe called Kim out saying that she was lying about why she was leaving the show. Not appreciating NeNe’s comments, Kim dismissed NeNe’s claims and spoke on the reason why she was departing from the show and had a few words for NeNe too. Although Kim Zolciak confirmed that she was quitting RHOA, it looks as though she may have had a change of heart as Kim says that returning to the show still might be an option for her:

“If RHOA gets picked up for Season 6, I would consider returning. My priorities were different [this season], but we’ll see what happens.”

Kim adds that if she does come back for Season 6 of the show, you won’t catch her pregnant again for sure:

“I won’t be pregnant!”

“I’ve been pregnant for the last two years. I can handle my own over the five years [of taping the show], but when I’m pregnant I try to keep myself calm because I have another life to take care of. If I’m taping and I’m not pregnant, I’ll be back to my fiery self.”

Though the thought of coming back for Season 6 of RHOA is still on Kim’s mind, the run-ins that she has had with NeNe are too as Kim says NeNe can take things beyond arguing:

“I don’t like confrontation and it’s always been hard when there are fights, I get so irritated by it,” she says about her many dust-ups. “Being on the bus with Nene, she’s someone you have to watch out for. She can be physical. It’s one thing to be in a argument, it’s another thing to get physical.”

And while it was not amusing to her when it was happening, Kim recalls the hair pulling incident that happened between her and Sheree Whitfield and now looks back and chuckles at it:

“I think the most talked about [fight] was when Sheree pulled my wig, which was funny. It wasn’t funny at the time, but it’s funny now.”

It’s still up the air whether or not Kim Zolciak will return for Season 6 of Real Housewives of Atlanta. But it is certain that she will still be doing reality TV as she is currently taping her new spin-off show that will be airing in the spring.
