As Oprah’s new romp in owning her own television network continues to go sour, she does the unthinkable by interviewing the Kadashian clan. Anything to garner more ratings for a failing network, right?

There probably is not a little black girl alive who does not look up to Oprah Winfrey and consider her rise to media reign as the blueprint to succeed in their own lives. Oprah has been admired for decades, as she is the first black woman to completely dominate the media and have a voice so important that she could have been the only one to launch a platform that led the first black man to ever become president in a society that is anything but post racial. With that much influence and authority on pop culture and media, one would have imagined that owning her own television network would be a walk in the park. But it has been nothing but a struggle that many believe could possible tarnish Oprah’s legacy. With rumors circulating that she has been stripped from all her executive powers at the request of the network’s top investors, one could label her recent interview choices as anything but coincidental.
It has been revealed to the press that the latest celebrities to sit down on the couch and tell all to Oprah will be the entire Kardashian family. When the news was made official, the media mogul received backlash and much criticism as many of her supporters are full aware that Kim Kadashian and company could have never been Oprah’s guest on her earlier talk show that launched her successful career.
Oprah took to her own website to explain what sparked her interest in the reality television stars:
Ok my friends I had the longest interviewing session I can ever recall, talking to ALLLLLLLL the Kardashians. I had never met them, nor seen the show. I did a full on Kardashian Kram in preparation, watching major shows from every season. I genuinely wanted to know why they have become a cultural phenomenon? Why do so many people love to watch their every move and why do so many others love to hate them. Are they completely ego centered? Are they really “famous for being famous” or is there something more?
I “GOT IT” … those answers +more. Those of you who watch the show know they hold nothing back. This interview I’d say was another level of forthrightness and honesty. Who surprised me the most? Scott. Lamar and Khloe. Kim.
Everyone who’s asked was the marriage a publicity stunt? Why did she leave after 72 days? Her answer leveled me.
Please note that this show will air Sunday at 8/7 central not its usual time. Followed by Part 2 of my conversation with 50 Cent at 9/8c where he talks about things you wouldn’t imagine coming from him. Meditation. Outgrowing his audience. What really matters now. I had a great eye-opening experience with him and released a lot of my preconceived notions and judgement. I’m loving this NEXT CHAPTER I get to do for myself what I intended for you the audience: Open the heart space, expand the way we see things, especially each other.
A great day on OWN beginning with Super SOUL Sunday at 11am/10c with Devon Franklin (thanks for your many “likes” on that one) hope you’ll tune in. An insightful visit with the Kardashians, every single one of them except 2-year-old Mason. Then FIF.

And it begins.
I see Oprah has become desperate to save her sh-tty azz network. All of this could have been prevented if she picked better shows and made the channel available on basic cable. But now she’s kissing major Kardashian azz to keep the investors happy. Shame.
Man I really respect Oprah but she is wrong for this one. Not just because its’ the Kardashians but also because she has no respect for most of these rappers out here, wouldn’t have them on her show but it’s okay for Kim (who is famous for a sex tape and getting around in the industry) and her whole famous for absolutely nothing family to come on your show? Really Oprah?
Anything to save the network I guess. But I really wish people would stop giving this family so much air time and blog love (cough, cough). LOL.
Damn. Not Oprah too. SMH
