Will Actress Lauren London Save BET Sitcom ‘The Game’?

With “Melanie Barnett-Davis” leaving the show, will adding Lauren London to the mix keep the show’s ratings up?

By: Taren Vaughan

After making its switch to BET, sitcom viewers were a little leery about how well hit sitcom The Game would do. But with the show’s rating reaching millions of TV watchers nationwide, those initial doubts that fans were having began to fizzle out. However, now they may resurface as two of the show’s main characters are headed for the exit door. Fan’s favorite weds Derwin “Ding-Dong” Davis and Melanie “Med School” Barnett-Davis will not be returning to the scene for next season as Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry-Hardict are taking on other acting ventures.

Just like old times, Mowry-Hardict will be starring alongside her twin sister in a reality series Tia and Tamera on Style Network.

Meanwhile, Hall will be joining the Showtime series “Ray Donovan”.

Even with the somewhat sudden departure of two of the show’s most popular cast members, it didn’t take long for the producers to find a person to replace them, well at least replace Melanie.

Actress Lauren London was sought out to join the cast as “Kiera”, a former child star who plays in a sitcom.

As the show is in the process of being revamped, some fans have responded to the casting changes. And some of them aren’t so sure about how well Lauren London can fill Tia Mowry-Hardict’s shoes:

“Lauren London will not be a good fit for the show at all. I mean she’s not the worst actress in the world. But when you are looking at which character she is replacing, I don’t see her holding it down and keeping the show’s ratings up”

“Ha, ‘New New’ won’t be saving that show. She was cool in ATL but that’s about it. I never looked at her as a serious actress. All the roles she has gotten have been all the same. She is like a “Meagan Good” to me”

“People need to give the girl a chance. She has talent and she is going to nail her role. Watch what I tell you”

“Lauren London being on the show will not change the ratings. As long as they still have Wendy Raquel Robinson on the show, producers don’t have anything to worry about. To me, she is the character that keeps the show entertaining”

Lauren London is no stranger to acting as she has landed roles in ATL, This Christmas and Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family.

But will her replacing the bubbly doctor turned baller’s wife have any effect on the show’s ratings?

  1. That’s easy: NO! She’d have to be able to act in order to “save” any show. She’s terrible. Pretty, but just a terrible actress.

  2. LOL at the delusional soul that said she was good in ATL. Her performance in that movie made me uncomfortable and a little mad. I’m from Atlanta, and her accent was just one of the most horrible things I’ve ever had to endure.

  3. So yeah. I’m officially done with this show. I knew BET was going to ruin a classic. And they proved me right with the very first episode on that trashy network. Bringing it back just wasn’t a good idea.

  4. LOL I must be the only one that thinks Tia’s acting on “The Game” was WHACK!!! Back when it was still on the CW, ok…she was tolerable. But ever since BET took over I feel like every single cast member’s skills are mediocre. I personally don’t see how the ratings are good WITH Tia on the show. That being said, I don’t think it’ll matter either way. The show should’ve just ended for good with this last finale. We just should’ve left well enough alone once it ended the first time because once BET got its hands on it? smh…downhill.

    1. Girl I so agree. But I’ll take it a step further and say that everybody’s acting on that show has always been terrible. They just need to pull the plug and throw in the towel. Ain’t no saving that terrible show.
