The Drake Aaliyah song “Enough Said”, one that Drake assisted in producing, has struck a nerve deep down in many of her long time fans, especially considering the fact that many of them think that a Chris Brown diss was added in the mix by Drake. Though it wasn’t 100% clear as to whom it was that Drake was referring to with the line, Aaliyah’s fan base erupted on Twitter and Facebook to express their anger over the verse and about Missy Elliott and Timbaland’s absence in the production of a project with Aaliyah’s name and voice on it.
It’s been rumored now that Timbaland will be working his magic on the posthumous project. However, Aaliyah’s immediate family is not cosigning any new albums released as of yet according to one of the late singer’s family members.
Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, got on Aaliyah’s fan page on Facebook and plainly stated that he and his family are not in support of any newly released Aaliyah music or related projects that are currently going on associated with her:
“there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.” -Rashad Haughton (regarding upcoming album release rumors)
And as far as a possible Aaliyah biopic in the future is concerned, Haughton posed the question to his sister’s fans on the Aaliyah Haughton Facebook page: “Biopic… yes or no?” to get their thoughts about it. He got a mixture of yes and no responses from the question. Even if a biopic were to be made for Aaliyah, Rashad Haughton says that there is no one out there that could pull off playing his sister:
“No female I’ve seen can play my sister.” –Rashad
Fans may be happy to know that Timbaland just might be joining the production team behind the new music. But at this moment in time, Aaliyah’s family has not offered their official blessings on any album or music.
If Drake cannot get her family behind the Aaliyah project, he should not release it. Aaliyah’s fans and family are very sensitive to artists doing things featuring her music or voice. I for one do not like the idea of him doing this.
Drake and his droopy face, funky hairline having self needs to have numerous seats!
Mo, you must be a chick that Drake just smashed because you are acting real salty right now. Get off his nuts, please!
t sounds like her brother is still mourning. I think it was disrespectful pf Drake to do that song with her, especially since he didn’t hook up with Missy and Tim. I don’t think her family will support any music that doesn’t include them.
I personally like when albums like this are put out. But not if the family isn’t supportive that’s disrespectful. && not only that Drake didn’t have to diss Chris in an Aaliyah song. I mean we are supposed to honor and remember her as a Singer and a loved person. That was waaaaayyy out of line Drizzy
