The Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey beef is officially on. For the last few weeks, it has been speculated that Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey are beefing on the set of American Idol. Even before Nicki was confirmed as a host on the talent show competition, there were numerous reports claiming that Mariah was furious about the possibility of the Head Barbie joining her on the judging panel. But since the producers were feeling the pressures of improving ratings, they decided a little cat fight between Nicki and Mariah could be great for ratings, so despite Mariah’s alleged protest, they signed Nicki on to become a judge on the show. And even though both Nicki and Mariah originally denied any friction on the set, it was confirmed yesterday that there is indeed a Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey beef in full effect on the American Idol set.
Nicki Minaj made headlines yesterday after a report alleged that Nicki and Mariah got in a heated argument that led to Nicki walking off the set during taping. And eventually, that report was confirmed by a video TMZ was able to get a hold of which showed a very angry Nicki Minaj cursing out Mariah Carey. Of course Mariah didn’t sit back and remain speechless when Nicki fired off on her, so the two went back and fourth and cursed at each other repeatedly. Nick Cannon, husband to Mariah Carey, had a recent interview and he actually had some things to say about the Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey beef.
When asked about the Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey beef and whether he thinks the whole thing is stressful to Mariah, he says to Access Hollywood:
“My wife is the strongest and classiest woman that I’ve ever met, if you watch the video, she just maintains her composure… I don’t think she’s moved by the theatrics and pageantry of it all. She signed up to do a job to help young people… this is like a sidebar. I hope that’s not what this show becomes, about the catfights. The show is solely about a singing competition, that’s why America loves these shows, they want to see people reach a certain goal or win… and then to make it about something it’s not, [it] kind of shows that the producers and the network are losing their foot a little bit.”
Nick says the beef between Nicki and Mariah is also taking away from the true purpose of the show:
“If I’m producing a show about young people accomplishing their dreams, that’s what I want the show to be about, not all the side pageantry… my wife is strong, classy and she maintains her strength.”
And of course Nick had to throw a little shade. When asked if he thinks Nicki Minaj is jealous of Mariah Carey, he says:
“You read the script!”
Nick even says that after it all went down, Mariah called him and mentioned nothing about the fight with Nicki. Instead, she only talked about their kids. Ouch.
In related news, despite the original report that claimed the Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey beef was a result of Mariah Carey calling Nicki a b-tch, the production staff of American Idol is allegedly telling the media that Nicki Minaj is to blame for the drama. In fact, they say Nicki’s attitude is so terrible that they might have to fire her if things continue:
A source tells Hollywood Life:
“If you want to know who is a major diva it is Nicki Minaj. She is a major handful and a complete pain. Everyone is a fan of Mariah and completely on her side, and if Nicki Minaj continues to make things be such an issue, they would be happy for her to be fired.”
I believe Nicki is a terror too. I’ve heard that already from SEVERAL people who have worked with her before. I’m not surprised she made a fool of herself either.
Smh. Nicki is getting dragged in the media so bad for this. She should have kept her cool. Now she looks crazy.
Girl yes, This story is everywhere! She made herself look like the typical angry and loud mouthed black woman in front of millions. The only thing she forgot to do was roll her neck. Smh.
I love the shade Nick. I really do. Lol.
Nicki looked like a weakling to me on that video. And I agree with Nick, Mariah didn’t even look like she was phased one bit. She looked like she was in control. Nicki looked like a brat. She just can’t seem to get along with other women who have had more success and longevity than her for some reason.
All I can do is laugh. I knew this was going to be tragic. But I doubt they will fire Nicki. This is the most attention the show has had in a long time. They ain’t trying to cut that short yet.
I told yall Nicki met her match in Mariah. Even her husband is throwing major shade. LOL.

Actually, Nicki Minaj was sick of Mimi always talking about herself during the judging of others! I see Mariah is sending out her Spin team in the media.

I don’t even know why Nicki is on the show. I have never seen a rapper make it on the show. Has anyone else seen a rapper on there??? It’s a SINGING show where only SINGERS should be juding the talent. I’m just waiting to hear all the Nicki / Mariah diss songs!
