Tyler Perry gained a new found confidence in himself and his physique. Tyler Perry, who is staring in the thriller “Alex Cross” which premieres October 19th had to shed 30 pounds for the role as explained in a interview with Men’s Health for their November 2012 issue. In the interview with the magazine, Tyler Perry also speaks to how the weight loss not just gave him confidence but helped him accept his body.

“I walk into a room with a lot more confidence,” he tells writer Drew Jubera. “All my life I’ve tried to hide my height. I was taller than everybody else and stood out, so I would slouch and try to hide it. But with what I’ve been able to do with my body, I’m owning it. I’m standing up when I walk into a room.”

Tyler Perry is also cool with being a sex symbol.

“Now, I feel like it’s OK to be thought of as sexy.”

Tyler Perry is revising a role previously played by Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman in the movies “Kiss the Girls” and “Along Came a Spider.” Tyler Perry is embracing the challenge of following up Freeman in the role of Alex Cross.

“I thought, ‘Well, Morgan Freeman played this role, you might not want to do this, ’cause Morgan Freeman knocked it out of the park. But the more I read it, the more I realized that I could do it.”

  1. Oh goodness. Tyler I’m not even mad at you for wanting to diversify the roles you play, but you will NEVER be a sex symbol. LMAO.

  2. Tyler bought this role. And that’s why he’s so unbelievable for this role. By all means, go after the films you want, but you’re not fooling anyone.
