Bow Wow’s Debut As 106 & Park Host Leads to Disappointing Ratings?

Is there a Bow Wow Soulja Boy beef? Bow Wow was just named as one of the new hosts of BET’s 106 & Park. The show has been on the air for years, but seems to change out hosts every few. The last hosts were Terrence J. and Rosci Diaz, and although both were initially met with disappointment from viewers (A.J. and Free were clear favorites), through time, Terrence and Rosci became adored by fans of the show. Despite their end on the show, both have moved on to to Celebrity reporting gigs. Although 106 & Park created a search campaign that encouraged viewers to submit tapes and videos as some sort of means of trying out for a spot on the show, ultimately Bow Wow and a few others were selected as hosts.

Bow Wow’s new gig was met with plenty of disappointment from those who have long supported the show. It turns out people weren’t too thrilled with BET dissing the raw and unestablished talent (like all the other hosts prior) for someone who is already an established celebrity. Despite this, BET has stood firm by their decision.

And Bow Wow isn’t clueless to the criticism and disappointment. In fact, in a recent interview, he says he believes that people will become more comfortable with him as a host over time, like they did with Rosci and Terrance J.

Bow Wow’s enthusiasm is refreshing and all, but according to the gossip mill, ratings have declined quite a bit since Bow Wow and the new judges made their debut to the show.

In fact, rumors suggest ratings are so bad that producers encouraged Bow Wow to reach out to his good friend rapper Soulja Boy to create a fake beef in a bid to improve ratings.

The other day, Soulja Boy randomly took shots at Bow Wow on Twitter and made fun of his financial situation. He tweeted then deleted, ” I ain’t tryna go broke like Bow Wow.”

Bow Wow’s response (Bow Wow no longer runs his Twitter account himself, since his last spectacle) was an invitation for Soulja Boy to come on the show. Soulja Boy agreed and said they’d talk it out and handle the beef live on the air.

But a source tells All Hip Hop it’s just a publicity stunt to improve ratings:

Bow Wow has taken over hosting duties as one of four new hosts on BET’s “106 & Park”, but  according to an inside source, the ratings have allegedly been lackluster. So what is a Hip-Hop artist/TV host to do? Hmm, perhaps he would call up one of his rap homeboys and start a fake Twitter beef? Then invite said rapper – a.k.a. Soulja Boy – onto your new show for a confrontation. Sounds genius!

  1. This won’t work. No one wants to see Bow Wow on the show every day. It was a bad call and they should have kept the hosts they had. They weren’t A.J. and Free but they were a whole lot better than the people they have on it now. The show is trash.

  2. Both are washed up and lame. I’m not even mad that they are trying to work together and get their careers on track. It’s smart actually.

  3. I was just pissed off that they hired all these people and then Bow Wow. It’s terrible. They had way more talented people that auditioned, but chose people who were clearly already in the industry somehow. That was a dumb decision and I’m glad they are paying for it.

  4. If I were an avid fan of 106th & Park, I’d be offended. A very tiny piece of me understands “doing what you have to do for ratings,” but who in the hell would want to see Soulja Boy and Bow Wow address their beef on live television?! Wtf cares?!?! Not only that, but what’s the purpose?? That’s so far left I don’t even see that show going right. He has a better chance of beefing up ratings by bringing Ciara on the show. BET has lost it.

  5. Half of BET’s shows are gonna flop because theyve taken out all the good people out, like tia mowry and pooch hall, the game wont be the same. tracey ellis roos from reed between the lines and of course 106 & park. Everybody gets adjusted and comfortable with the original cast and when you change them uo the show is uninterested.
