Is Lil Wayne retiring? Rapper Lil Wayne has been in the rap game since he was just eight years old. Fame came for the rapper when he became 1/4 of the rap group “Hot Boys,” which became of one of Cash Money Record’s biggest accomplishments to date. After the group split up, Lil Wayne would remain on the label due to his close relationship with Brian “Birdman” Williams, and become a solo artist and release several albums of his own. Although the rapper has had much success, many claim that the passion that used to be in his lyrics has been lacking as of late. Perhaps these people could be on to something because the Young Money head honcho confirmed in a recent interview with MTV News that he has lost his passion for rapping and instead has a greater interest in skateboarding.
Lil Wayne also confirmed that his upcoming album Carter V will be his last album:
“I know y’all want me around for a lil [sic] bit, and Carter V is my last album.
I been rapping since I was eight years old, I’m 30 now, man. Man, that’s a long time. And I like to do so many more things. And when I like to do something, I end up loving to do it real quick. And when I love to do something, then I’m fully focused on it and it only. And music sometimes is not that it.”
Although Weezy claims Carter V will be his last, he does still have another rock album (I Am Not a Human Being II) dropping next February, as well as a few more tracks with his Young Money artists being released soon.
Interestingly enough, the rapper did say in 2010 that he plans to retire only when he dies, so I guess only time will tell if he really means this or not.
Regardless, check out the interview below:
Good! He’s terrible.
Weezy just doesn’t have the passion for rappin’ anymore.
Yeah I could notice he’s not passionate anymore. Lately, his lyrics have been trash. He had a good run though.
Deuces. He was overrated anyway.
Please take Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Tyga with you Weezy. All of you have ruined Hip Hop. Thx!
