Nicki Minaj Tells Radio Station Not to Play Her Songs After They Diss Her

By: Taren Vaughan

Did Nicki Minaj demand Hot 97 to stop playing her music? Before her beef with Mariah Carey ever jumped off and after the one started between her and Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj was locked into one with New York’s Hot 97 radio station after she pulled out of performing at this year’s Summer Jam concert. Nicki specifically got into it with Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg for his comments about her selling out and not being a true Hip-Hop artist, comments that he had no plans of taking back. Nicki called Rosenberg out for dissing her and even got into it with Funkmaster Flex on air over her move to opt out of performing at Summer Jam. Nicki and Hot 97 put the beef behind them and moved on from everything, well at least that’s what was thought. After a recent interview that she did with Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg, Nicki Minaj demanded that the station not play her music anymore, according to the station’s program director Ebro. And Ebro goes into detail about Nicki’s desire for them to stop playing her songs and how Nicki went off on him during a phone conversation that they had:

“I said, ‘Rosenberg ruined Nicki Minaj’s career’. Evidence suggests based on this Re-Up release, the things you said about her being pop and selling out and making that pop music came back to haunt her.”

“Now, she puts six rap records on this album and it didn’t sell”

Ebro says after she did the show with Cipha and Rosenberg, Nicki dialed him up and threw every insult she could at him:

“I get the phone call, the international number pops up, I answer the call, it’s my friend Nicki Minaj, who then starts to proclaim how I’m fake. She used every woman’s stab she could : ‘I thought you were a man, you’re a cornball, I thought we were friends, you’re fake, everyone told me you were fake.’

“I said, ‘Nicki, I’m helping you. I’m keeping you in the Hip Hop conversation. This Hip Hop thing’s a competition; you’re either ringing, or you’re not, and just like I said yesterday, I love you, boo and I’ll dust you off and make sure this thing is popping off again.’ And she goes, ‘Don’t ever play my music again. I don’t want you to play my music.'”

But in the end, Ebro says that the station will continue to play Nicki’s songs despite her request for them not to.

Nicki Minaj’s The Re-Up: Roman Reloaded is not doing nearly as well as Pink Friday did when it initially debuted. And as she made it known that she was concerned about how well her new album would do, you would think that she would be pushing any and every radio station to play her music. Guess that doesn’t apply to Hot 97, looking like Barbie still has a little beef with them.

  1. I don’t blame her. Hot 97 is always shading her. It’s like some kind of obsession or something. So she went Pop, it’s not that serious.

  2. If she doesn’t want them to play her music, then they shouldn’t. Don’t let her profit when she’s acting like a diva. I’ve never heard of someone talking like that to a radio station. Let her be. Her minutes are up anyways. I used to like Nicki but I feel that she has made it more about her looks than her ability to rap.

  3. I really need Hot 97 to get off Nicki’s nutz. They are always trying to start something with her. But they know the can’t run that station without her music. Her following is bigger than their following. LOL.

  4. She’s so damn dramatic. Radio ppl talk crap about everyone. They get paid to be controversial. She really needs to toughen up.

  5. Nicki is at it again. She has the stankest attitude and can’t handle ANY criticism. I really miss the other female rappers who actually had more to offer.

  6. oh come on nicki minaj , you are not a small child, but a 30year old extremely succesful rap artist.
