Vanessa Bryant, wife of Kobe Bryant, has made some bold statements in reference to her marriage to the NBA superstar that sometimes get her the side eye from people, Vanessa having to go back and clarify her words from time to time. In addition to the things that come straight from her, the gossip mill suggested on several occasions that Vanessa and Kobe’s marriage was on the rocks, Vanessa appearing to be on the verge of leaving Kobe at one point. She later assured everyone that things were fine between them however that was all said to be a cover up and that her and Kobe were trying to keep their marital problems hidden from the public. As the happenings surrounding their marriage are public knowledge, including the scandal that Kobe was involved in years back, and with Kobe being one of the greatest ballers in the game, it’s almost inevitable that his name is dropped in rap lyrics every now and then. And there was one lyric that Rapper Drake spit that rubbed Kobe’s wife Vanessa the wrong way on the “Stay Schemin'” track that he was featured on with Rick Ross and French Montana where Drake referenced Vanessa potentially walking away with a sizeable amount of Kobe’s dough as she previously filed for a divorce from him.
Drake’s lyrics from “Stay Schemin’:
Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty M’s
Kobe my n*gga I hate it had to be him
B*tch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym
(B*tch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym)
Now Kobe himself hasn’t been one to beef with rappers, unless you count his former teammate Shaquille O’Neal who had a short-lived rap career back in the early ’90’s and who put out a diss record where he went in on Kobe. Vanessa doesn’t mind speaking up though when she is shaded in a song, especially when it causes all of the artists’ fans to constantly tag her name to the lyric. Long after the song was released and finally growing beyond irritated, Vanessa finally broke her silence after she started to get tired of people referencing the infamous Drake lyric on her Instagram account:
“I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship. Just shows how gullible they are. I don’t need to be in the gym. I’m raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life.[…]
I really wish people would stop THINK and then realize that they are being sucked into someone’s clear intention to monetize and gain attention off of our family’s heartache. This is real life. I hold down our home life so my husband can focus on his career. It’s a partnership.
Since my husband isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager. It’s done and over with and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking”.
Though Vanessa claims that Kobe and Drake are not friends and that her and Kobe did not get an official apology directly from the Young Money rapper, Drake has come out saying that he meant no disrespect to the NBA superstar or his wife with his rhymes:
“That line came from a conversation about being this young and making this much money and the fear of losing it all. I just used his potential situation to address my own life. I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else.”
Late anyone?
Whatever Vanessa.
I’m sure she has more important things to worry about than what Bert from Sesame Street is saying about her in his lame songs.
Lol
LMAO!!!!

I agree with Vanessa. Both spouses have a partnership and have to agree as to how will they each take care of home. Drake came of as very lame and immature in this instance.
She comes of as such a slimy golddigger.
Honestly, Vanessa isn’t that bad. She is really hands on with her daughters and minds her own business. I honestly feel like Shaunie O’Neal and the birds on her show are way worse than Vanessa.
LOL she’s late as hell but I kind of agree with her. We don’t know how her life is or how involved she is in running her household. Hell, if the court is willing to give her half if she walks away, then so be it.
She shouldn’t even have addressed it. It wasn’t worth it.
