The fate of R&B Divas has pretty much been in the air now since the conclusion of the first season. Getting the show renewed for a second season hasn’t been without the drama and for a second there, it was rumored that two major cast members would not return if TV One did green light the second season. For the last few months, it was rumored that Nicci Gilbert would not be returning due to her  rumored “unpopularity” with fans of the show. Nicci eventually shut down the rumors in an interview and even revealed that TV One did not renew the show yet. Shortly after, whispers also began to spread that Faith Evans would also not be returning.

Well, it looks like TV One has finally made up their minds about the series, as they released a press release earlier confirming that they are renewing the show for its second season. And despite all the rumors and speculations, all of the ladies have been confirmed to make a return.

In the statement, Toni Judkins, executive vice president programming and production for TV One says:

“R&B Divas’ has definitely struck a positive chord with viewers. Week-after-week, the series continued to build on its audience and we’re thrilled to provide another season and a new franchise of a dynamic program that is clearly resonating with audiences.”

Nicci Gilbert also sent a statement to Access Atlanta, and expressed her gratitude as a executive producer of the hit series.

Nicci says:

“As creators and executive producers of the R&B Divas Franchise, my partner Faith Evans and I are overjoyed with the new season as well as the spinoff We look forward to a long fruitful relationship with TV One and hope this marks the beginning of ‘Better Reality TV.’ We thank the viewers and the network for the opportunity to prove this season that this franchise is here to stay.”

Congrats to the divas of R&B Divas on the renewal.

  1. Yes! I’m happy for them. This show grew on me and I love that they aren’t ratchet like those whores on Basketball Wives.

  2. That’s cool, I think TVOne is doing a good job with their lineups, I think they are blasting BET out of the water.
