Lil’ Mama cast as Left Eye in TLC biopic? Lil’ Mama had heads bobbin’ like crazy with her hit single “Lip Gloss”, the first single of the rapper’s that put her on the map. And outside of her music, she landed a gig as a judge on America’s Best Dance Crew. Like most rappers, Lil’ Mama is no stranger to beefs as she had one going with Nicki Minaj. Nor is she unfamiliar with controversy as Lil’ Mama clapped back at her critics for making negative comments about the way that she rocks her natural hair. Her most controversial moment by far though was when she crashed the stage during Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ performance of “Empire State of Mind” at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, an awards show in particular that had quite a few controversial moments. Lil’ Mama later explained her sudden urge to jump on stage during their performance, saying that her emotions were running high at the time and that she meant no disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys as she has a lot of admiration for both artists.

Aside from being a fan of fellow New York natives in the industry, Lil’ Mama also is a huge fan of award-winning girl group TLC, one of the most successful female R&B groups of all time. And she now has gotten the chance to star in the group’s biopic. Lil’ Mama will be playing the part of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the biopic, legendary Rapper MC Lyte announced to HipHollywood, Lyte praising Lil’ Mama’s talent:

“I’m gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short. And that’s Lil’ Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady. So I wanna see her do some beautiful things. And I don’t know that I’m supposed to say but I will, she just got the role of Left Eye in TLC’s new movie. So I’m so excited for her.”

MC Lyte also went on to say that she and Lil’ Mama will be hitting the studio together to work on a Hip-Hop album that will feature other female rap artists.
