Rihanna’s love life isn’t the only controversial element of her life, so is her Instagram account. The international pop star has been working effortlessly to shed her innocent pop star image since her Good Girl Gone Bad album, but it’s clear that her behavior on Twitter and Instagram might have sped up the process. Rihanna catches flak yet satisfies her fan base with her constant photos of herself smoking weed and controversial tweets, but sometimes even Rihanna’s own fans feel like she may have taken things too far. After one of her fans commented on a photo of Rihanna smoking weed and told her they feared she would meet the same fate as Whitney Houston, Rihanna took it upon herself to curse out the fan in front of millions of her Instagram followers. The fan later said on Twitter that the exchange led to her being bullied online, but Rihanna offered no apologies and didn’t seem to care that the Navy was being borderline scary to one of their own for simply expressing a concern.

Then of course there is her many nude selfies, photos that have many feeling like Rihanna is the worst role model ever. But Rihanna has no desires to be anyone’s role model, so she continues to do what she pleases on Instagram, including taking numerous photos of her controversial rekindled romance with singer Chris Brown.

More snippets of Rihanna’s interview with Elle have been released (Rihanna covers the April issue) and Rihanna actually takes the time to address her behavior on Instagram. According to Rihanna, being a little bold on Instagram is allowing her to be real.

She says:

“Well I Instagram everything about my life, whether it’s smoking pot, in a strip club, reading a Bible verse – how crazy, I know! – or hanging out with my best friend, who happens to be Chris.

“Everybody wanted to know what was happening in my life. Is she a drug addict? No. Is she an alcoholic? No. Is she a victim? No. That’s when I got the gun [tattoo]. It was a symbol of strength. I’ll never be a victim. That’s why I’m posting pictures of myself smoking pot, to tell the truth about myself. I’ve got so much to think about, why bring all this extra sh*t by being dishonest?”

But Rihanna says as fearless as she is about her social network activities, there is one person who does intimidate her and causes her to question it sometimes: her mother. She says:

“I’m not afraid of any person in this world but my mother. I’m terrified of her! She called me two days ago and reeled me in about two naked pictures Melissa [her best friend] put up on Instagram… My mom, she went crazy on me. I was like embarrassed. I felt like I got my a*s whooped in front of my class in school! She said, ‘This was like a private moment and you’re just parading this around.’ She humbled the f*ck out of me.”

  1. My only problem with this is that people feel like putting ALL your business on the internet is now a form of being “real.” That’s a very immature way of thinking. Some things should be private. She’s 25 now and it’s scary that she still doesn’t get that.

    1. This.Is like I mpost a photo of me smiling, but that does mean that it is true or real…she says that she ins’t a role model, but after Chris beat her, in her next interview she was like “I want to be a role model, for young girls to empower them and bla, bla, bla”…She is egocentric and only thinks about herself, you my not like what a fan says about you even if it is for your own good, but you don’t go after them like this.Behaving like a high schol girl..She wanted to take Chris back right then, but didn’t cuz it would be the end of her career. If she wants to be with her abuser, let her be, this relations was toxic and it still is, she will learn the hard way.And she needs to learn and be more humble, just cuz you’re a hot thing now, doesn’t mean it going to last,if she keeps this behaviour most of her fans will go.And honey or image is all you’ve when it gone you’ll learn……..

      1. Whatever makes you sleep at night my dear. You’re a little too young to see past smoke and mirrors I guess.

  2. Welp, I guess i’m dishonest then because I damn sure don’t put every damn thing I do on Instagram. #shrugs

  3. I’m glad her mom talked some sense into her about the nude pics. She has a great body but it’s not for the whole world to see…just Chris. LOL.

  4. I’m not sure why she’s trying to make it deeper than what it is. She’s doing the most on IG because it’s what keeps her in the media. She’s an entertainer, it’s her job to entertain on her IG account. It’s attention whoring but that’s her job. I disagree in her saying it’s to be real because there’s nothing real about any celebrity. IJS.

  5. @Anonymous, be easy, “team breezy ” is about to blow…wow …anyway, just wondering still why it’s not a big deal when Snoop blows smoke in photos and have interviews about smoking weed. Every rap lyric is about whatever drug they care to talk about(as though young people or admires aren’t listening) . Wow, what hypocrites people can be at times. When does the complaints start about them….uhm h’m didn’t think so. Gtfoh. Geez…
