DMX was supposed to make a comeback to the rap game once he got released from prison, however, his return to music seems to be stalled due to his personal struggles of alleged substance abuse. The rapper’s estranged wife Tashera Simmons says things have gotten so bad for the former Ruff Ryders star that it’s caused him to be at odds with his own family and kids. So in an attempt to help him get the help he needs, she asked Iyanla Vanzant to feature him on her OWN show Iyanla: Fix My Life. The episode aired on Saturday, and of course it was an explosive one. Although Iyanla did attempt to tackle DMX’s issues with drugs, she also was able to get him to open up about his serious issues with his mother. Regardless, DMX is telling the media through his publicist that he feels Iyanla did not help him any, but actually might have made things worse. Here’s what his spokesperson tells AllHipHop:

“DMX agreed to be a guest on ‘Iyanla: Fix My Life’ with the understanding that she would be helping his relationships with his 10 children. When he arrived for the taping, most of the content was focused on his struggles with drugs and poor parenting. Iyanla did not ‘fix’ DMX’s life just made his image worse, and does not have DMX’s personal written consent to use the footage.

“What the team does want DMX’s fans to know is that he is working on a new album that will include Swizz Beatz and we hope to also work with Timbaland, Dr. Dre, and Kanye West. Another announcement is his upcoming film ‘Blame It On The Hustle’ Mekhi Phifer and Ving Rhames.”

  1. DMX is addicted to drugs. A couple of sit-downs with Iyanla is NOT going to fix that. It takes lots of therapy and time to get over an addiction. The time with Iyanla should have just been the beginning of his treatment.

  2. He’s right….Iyanla didn’t fix his life because he didn’t allow her to. He was very rude and disrespectful to her and his son. I was really shocked at how upset he got with his son when he asked him to get clean so that they could have a relationship. DMX is gonna have to fix his own life. This may be mean to say, but people shouldn’t buy his CD or support his movie because every dollar he earns he’s gonna use it towards drugs. And I don’t help support people who are killing themselves.

  3. This was so sad. DMX can be proud of what he built for himself and his family, especially given his tough life. But it near broke my heart to see how that the drugs meant more to him than his health, family and relationships. One may be *okay* with God, but what’s wrong with striving to be a better person? It is a greater man that knows when he needs help and reaches out and takes the hand that is extended. May he find the strength to lift himself up from his pain.
