As it has been reported numerous times, VH1 has decided to film a biopic centered around the lives and the career of former R&B girl group TLC. And while the idea alone was enough to excite fans, casting for the major roles of each of the members has been pretty controversial. The group is loved so much that people just don’t think most actresses are good enough to portray them on the small screen. So when it was confirmed that Keke Palmer (Chilli), Lil Mama (Left Eye), and Drew Sidora (T-Boz) would be taking on the challenge, fans were outraged. Most specifically, people weren’t confident that Lil Mama could pull of Left-Eye, the female rapper who was loved and tragically died too soon. And while Keke already has proven her acting chops in numerous films and shows, people didn’t think she looked enough like Chilli to handle the part. Both Lil Mama and Keke clapped back at the criticism on their Twitter accounts, but now it appears that T-Boz herself has decided to put the critics in their place as well. After T-Boz posted a picture of the actresses in costume and showed support, fans of TLC immediately began to bombard the comment section with their grievances. T-Boz responded by reminding them that the film is about her and her group, so they would know best who to choose for the roles. She also made it a point to tell the fans to stop being judgmental and give the actresses a chance to prove themselves. Here’s what she wrote on her Instagram account:

  1. Much ado about nothing. People are so quick to criticize when people haven’t given them a reason to just yet. I hope they do well so people will let it go.

  2. My goodness people are so pressed about this. Let the young ladies prove themselves. How are they hating before they even see the movie? Ugh! #ICant

  3. I don’t think it will as terrible as people are making it out to be. Keke is actually a great actress. I’m not sure about the other two but I don’t think there’s a need to be so upset about this.

  4. Whoa…they look just like them. This may actually be an alright movie. Wishing them the best. I was a big TLC fan back in the day. LOL.

  5. Aw huh…..this reminds me if the whole Zoe/ Nina Simone situation. Another instance where people are judging skin tones and appearances before they see the actual work. Let’s wait until the movie comes out. I bet it will be better than expected.

  6. im just waiting for the movie to come out i think the ladies is goin to blow us away i love Keekee in every movie she has done
