Rihanna has clearly proven she is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the current state of the music industry, as she continues to be one of the most successful singers on the scene right now. And as hot as she is right now, great opportunities continue to knock at her door, and it appears that she could be one step closer to getting serious about becoming an actress. According to reports, a new biopic for Josephine Baker is in the works, and the producer of the film says his first choice for an actress to play Josephine is none other than Rihanna herself. Belfast Telegraph reports:
The chart-topping singer, who made her film debut in action thriller Battleship, is producer W Lance Reynolds’ first choice to play the late American-French singer and actress in an upcoming biopic.
“Rihanna is one of the most talented performers of this millennium and with her unique acting and performing abilities, I have no doubt she will bring Josephine back to life on the big screen,” he said.
Based on the autobiography Josephine, the film rights have been bought by Noosa Films.
Of course this won’t be the first Josephine Baker biopic to be made, as the last one starred legendary actress Lynn Whitfield. Whitfield’s portrayal of Baker on the small screen was praised by most film critics, and happens to still be considered one of her best moments in her long acting career. The producer of the new biopic is hoping Rihanna will have the same success if she takes him up on the offer to star in the film.
NO NO NO. This producer just want Rihanna’s name attached to the film for more exposure. I can understand if she did great audition. With all the black actress why choose Rihanna. She is not worthy of that role.
Did this producer not see her in Battleship or nah?
Lawd! I just flipped a bit. Chile thats what I’m saying. WHAT ACTING? First Zoe playing Nina Simone (nothing against her, I love her but they could have picked an African American actress that looks like her. There were a nice handful) … Now They are trying to fit this square into a circle. I can see she her playing the role based off of looks. She would be able to pull off the looks part & probably slay & looks awesome, but the actual important part… U know the ACTING PART … NOPE. Not right now. This can go to someone else who can actually ACT. Josephine was one of my favorites so they can’t screw this up.
Is this a joke? Rihanna’s doing it big in music, but that role is better off being given to a black actress who can do it justice. This is ridiculous.
As if it’s not hard enough out here for black actresses with talent. Why give her the role? So she can draw people to the movie to see your bootleg biopic? Whatever.
LOL. Hey, why not? All he cares about is getting hype built up for the film anyway.
Beyonce played Etta James in Cadillac Records, so why can’t Rihanna do this?
And honestly to me it was NOT good!

Anything to get people interested in this movie I guess. Oh well.

Josephine Baker is the personification of what an artist should be, she was a pioneer, she an icon…and Rihanna is total the opposite, she is a lousy singer and dancer, not to mention she totally lacks acting skills…this movie will flop and will be murdered by critics…Why, with so many good, talent actress….SMH
