The controversy surrounding Lil Wayne’s Emmett Till lyric doesn’t seem to be dying down any, despite the fact that he did eventually get dropped by Mountain Dew. Besides the statement he sent out to the Till family, the rapper hasn’t said anything about the lyric. But recently Future made the claim that he believes Lil Wayne’s lyric on the “Karate Chop Remix” actually made Emmett Till relevant to people who had no idea who he was before. Interestingly enough, it appears that the actual producer of the song is telling people that the actual lyric was not supposed to ever see the light of day and they actually believed it wasn’t a good look to keep it on the single. However, the producer says the reason it got out is solely the fault of a video hacker. Metro Boomin tells Vibe:
“…We didn’t even intend for it to come out like that. It was serious. I was like, “Honestly, it will be no good” so we took the line out. But there was a music video…The whole reason the song came out prematurely is [because] it got leaked. I’m not even going to say his name. He had ripped the song off the video director’s…Uh, I guess the video director fell asleep uploading the video, to his Vimeo. He [the ripper] always checks the Vimeo for content and one day he lucked up on the f*cking ‘Karate Chop’ video and he ripped the one with the Wayne verse and he put it out. On the mastered version, the final, that line wasn’t in there. He [the ripper] put it out and made everybody look like douchebags, but it wasn’t the plan.”
Damage Control. LOL.
I find it hilarious how everyone involved is now trying to save face. Smh.
Yesssss! Ugh
I don’t care if it was leaked or not. The problem is he rapped it. And for that reason alone, I’m done with him. He’s an insensitive douchebag.
I guess. Anything to make it look like they aren’t responsible. At the end of the day, it’s really no one’s fault but Lil Wayne’s I guess.
Yeah but he was out of line for even going there. It’s like this fool will say anything just to have a damn punchline. He is one of the most overrated rappers i have ever seen.
#THIS
It wasn’t supposed to be released? Well it was and Lil Wayne was dead wrong for what he said. But this isn’t the first time he’s said some pretty insensitive sh-t in his music. And it won’t be the last.
Oh yeah he’s definitely not going to stop saying dumb sh-t in his music. That’s just what he does. LOL.
Well it was released and he can’t take it back now. Maybe if he actually worked on his skills as a “lyricist,” he wouldn’t have to resort to trying to ride off shock value all the time.
BS. Excuses, excuses.
I’m not sure how this even matters. The problem is he thought it was nothing wrong with rapping what he did about Emmett Till. And for that reason alone, I hold him responsible.
Honestly these boys need to just shut up.
BUT HE STILL SAID IT EVEN IF IT WASN’T SUPPOSE TO BE RELEASED! IGNORANCE MUST BE THE NEW INTELLIGENCE, ESPECIALLY AFTER HEARING WHAT FUTURE HAD TO SAY ABOUT IT. LMAO AND SMFH
