ABC’s “Scandal” heading to BET? Kerry Washington always nails her parts in movies, but her role on ABC’s “Scandal” has taken the actress’ career to a whole new level. Though Kerry snagged the lead role as Olivia Pope and plays the part to perfection, her character in “Scandal” has stirred up some controversy as many people view Olivia Pope as the president’s side piece. Despite how people may feel about what Olivia has going on with President Fitzgerald Grant III, there are plenty of people who absolutely love the show as “Scandal” has had no problem at all bringing in the ratings for ABC. While things are looking good for ABC’s ratings, BET is trying hard to boost theirs. Gabrielle Union’s “Being Mary Jane” pulled in big numbers in ratings with its premiere on BET. And network execs are hoping that “Scandal” will do the same thing as the network as worked out an exclusive deal with ABC to air the first two seasons of the hit show this summer and the new episodes from season three this fall after they are broadcast by ABC.

Here’s what the network had to say about the new deal they landed with ABC:

Olivia Pope is officially joining the BET family.

The network has made an exclusive deal with ABC to air new episodes of Scandal this fall. Each episode will air only on BET after its broadcast premiere. BET will also get fans up to speed for the season three premiere by airing the first two seasons all summer long.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with ABC in airing this dynamic series,” said Debra Lee, Chairman of BET Networks. “Scandal is a cultural phenomenon that has resonated with viewers for the past two seasons and we’re excited to be part of its continued journey.”

Will this new deal with ABC cause BET to see a huge jump in the ratings department? We’ll find out soon.

  1. Well Well Well I guess they don’t have that much confidence in Gabby’s Mary Jane because they brought in Olivia Pope for back up. That’s gotta be a blow to Gabby’s ego you claim you have the better show but I guess BET doesn’t want to miss out. #youain’tthathotboo!!!

  2. I’m assuming this means that encore episodes will no longer be available for streaming on HuluPlus since BET now has exclusive rights. Not happy about this. I’m sure Gabby isn’t either, lol.
