Kelly Rowland’s new album “Talk A Good Game” didn’t amass the number of album sales the R&B singer probably wanted, but Kelly still doesn’t regret  opening up more to the world and sharing her real feelings with the public. Kelly’s music was way more honest this time around for the former Destiny’s Child member now solo star, and her controversial song “Dirty Laundry” revealed to the world her insecurities and a past abusive relationship that left her questioning if she had what it takes to have a successful career in the music industry. In particular, Kelly’s lyrics sounded as if Beyonce’s success was a little hard for her to take at times as she struggled to secure her own solo success, but Kelly claims she was not and never has been jealous of Beyonce. In fact, in her recent interview with Essence Magazine (she covers the September issue), Kelly says her unhappiness had nothing to do with Beyonce and she’s not worried about people judging her for being more open.

Here are a couple of snippets from the issue.

On possibly being judged for opening up about her personal struggles and feelings, Kelly says she didn’t do it before because she was afraid of being judged. But now she really doesn’t care about other people’s opinions of her:

“Judge me if you want to. And as a matter of fact, it won’t even count, ‘cause the only person who can judge is God.”

On Beyonce and being unhappy, Kelly says:

“For a long time I wasn’t happy, but that had nothing to do with Beyoncé. That had to do with me trying to get my life in order and make better decisions for myself. I’m seeing all these wonderful things happen for her and I am happy for her. But I want a path. I want things to pop off for me, too. Not on her level but whatever my level is supposed to be.”

  1. Even after that last album flopping, she’s still talking about Beyonce in her interviews. I give up.

  2. Another day another Kelly talking about Beyonce story. I got love for Kelly but this article is one of the reasons why she didn’t sell any albums.

  3. Kelly, boo please stop talking about Beyonce in every single one of your interviews. It hasn’t helped you in the past and it won’t help you now. Tell these interviewers to ask you about YOU. You deserve that much.

    1. I agree! I think Kelly does more promoting for Beyonce than herself! If only she would talk more about herself and her projects instead of uplifting Beyonce all the time. However, she did these thing while she was in DC so why change now!

  4. Kelly is boring. If she doesn’t talk about Bey, no one would want to interview her. I’m just saying the truth.

  5. Kelly just doesn’t get it. She’s not interesting because she’s so predictable! We know she can’t go a day without talking about Beyonce, we know she pretends to be a freak to sell records and even that won’t help, and we know her songs will never be hits because they generally aren’t good. I don’t think she has the it factor that’s needed to do well in music.

  6. I like Kelly and I know she has love for Beyonce, which is great, but I know I would be annoyed and frustrated every time I had an interview and I was always asked about my sister or bestfriend.

  7. OMG… I love Kelly I really do always stood for her but… Pls boo boo STOP talking about Beyonce!!! You look sooo very beautiful you worked out u even got ur music things up a couple notches. But your predictable n if they won’t talk to you unless u talk about beyonce, then go GHOST on their as-es. I think you need to go in a break room. Break things throw sh-t around like black paint, scream n pull your hair. Go to africa Run with the lions and zebras, get a new outlook on life. Come back fire the ppl who make ur beats or write ur songs. START de feq Ova. With much much love and concern! P.S you made me into a fake fan bec ur album is boring. STOP PLAYING IT SAFE go crazy loosen up!!! God bless you Kelly -hugs-
