“The Best Man Holiday” almost came in the number one spot at the box office in its opening weekend, and many moviegoers have praised the film, even giving it a high CinemaScore of a A+. So it makes sense that some are already speculating that another film could be in the works, especially since the film did end in a way that left room for a followup movie. Well it now appears that another movie is happening.
According to Deadline, the film’s producer/director/screenwriter Malcolm D. Lee is already in talks with Universal Pictures to start working on the next installment.
Lee is actually in the process of negotiating a deal with Universal to make another sequel, and it’s all because of the huge success the movie is having in its opening weekend.
It’s also being said that it won’t take 14 years to make the next sequel, and it’s still up in the air when it comes to who will return cast wise.
As we recently reported, “The Best Man Holiday” beat out the studio’s expectations and brought in $30.6 million in its first weekend at the box office.
Please please please don’t mess it up!
Right.
I second that.
I knew it! Yay! I will definitely support the next one too!
Awesome. I’m glad to see movies with predominately black casts doing well. It shows that we can make movies and they will do well.
Oh I’m down. I’ll be there opening weekend.
That was quick. I love it!
Yes! I knew they would. The ending was perfect for the next one.
I just hope they continue the awesome storytelling in the next one. I’m already excited.
Stoked!
I figured. I can’t wait.
I’m glad! I hope they end it with a bang.
I just hope it won’t be sad like this one was.
I agree I cried so much I don’t want to cry again.
I knew it. 🙂
Yes!
