TLC is slated to drop a new studio album in 2014 and the group is managing to survive all the drama that’s been going down in the media with their former manager Pebbles Reid in the process. Chilli recently stepped out on her own and collaborated with Animal Rights organization PETA to shoot a campaign and urge others to boycott the Circus.

The TLC singer was disgusted when she learned the truth about circus cruelty and she’s decided to stand up for animals who are forced to deal with the abuse and mistreatment they receive at the hands of the circus.

Chilli says:

“Like many of us, we’ve all gone to the circus. And all you get to see is the tricks and the hoops and all this kind of stuff and you think that it’s so cool and great that an animal can do this. But they are totally out of their natural habitat.

“There’s so much cruelty behind the scenes which is something people don’t get to see. They’re being mean to them to make them do this trick that everybody sees and thinks the animals really want to do it. And I think everybody needs to be aware of what’s really going on.”

Chilli also says she enjoyed doing the shoot and she thinks it’s a celebrity’s job to use their fame to stand up for a cause:

“This shoot was very interesting because I’ve never done anything like this. I think it’s very important to use your celebrity for positive things. If you can raise awareness to something that’s important such as this, then you should because I know for a fact that I would never want to be in a cage or anything like that.”

  1. I love to see her doing something good but I can’t stand PETA. They are hypocrites. They kill dogs they can’t find homes for. I can’t support them.

  2. I’ve been boycotting the circus for a few years now. Some of the articles I’ve read about the abuse they do to animals made it hard for me to keep going.

  3. Chilli? Girl, Get a deal with Miss Jessie’s or something, the Peta look is not cutting it.
I’ll continue to take the little one’s once a year for their enjoyment.

Though I’m not an animal lover at all , I do have a heart. So to anyone, or thing that is being mistreated does not sit right with me. I would like to think there are good animal trainers who do no have to subject the animals to abuse to be obedient. Then again, wth do I know..
