Did Ashanti and Nelly get back together? Ashanti and Nelly never really confirmed they were together while they were dating, but it’s always been known that both of the music artists had an on and off romance that went on for almost a decade. The nine-year romance ended explosively and resulted in Ashanti’s little sister Shia cursing out the rapper and his new girlfriend Tae Heckard out on Twitter earlier this year. Shia accused Tae of pursuing Nelly while he was with her big sis and she threatened to fight Tae on sight if she ever made a trip to New York.
Despite all the drama, Ashanti has kept it cute on social media, but she opened up during her interview at Hot 97 about her relationship with Nelly. They aren’t back together (and he’s still dating Tae). When Ebro asked her if they would ever get back together, she didn’t exactly rule it out and made no mention of his new boo (shade). She says:
“Nelly and I are in the space where I’m kind of like focusing on my career. He’s focusing on what he’s doing. There’s a lot of things that happened this year. A lot of things kind of went public more than other things have gone public before.
“I have to do me. We’re in that space right now and there’s things that were said, things that were done that probably shouldn’t been said or done but they were…but they have been.”
She also said that the relationship left emotional scars for the both of them:
“He put a couple of scars on me, not physically, we don’t want to put that out. We’ve definitely scarred each other.”

I think Tae is just a rebound. He has so much history with Ashanti. But he plays too many games. He still hasn’t claimed her or confirmed they were even together! That’s crazy!
Both of them are rebounds in a sense because neither will ever get a commitment out of him.

I think Nelly has some commitment issues. He’s too old to still be trying to keep his relationship a secret. How are you a grown man and not ever claiming who you’re with? It’s not like he’s hot anymore. No one really cares. I think that is so disrespectful.
She stayed with Nelly way too long. It’s never a good sign when a man won’t claim you in public.

It happens to regular chicks out here all the time. They will tolerate foolishness for the dumbest reasons. It doesn’t take a man 5 or 9 years to figure out if he wants to marry you or not.
I get that they asked her about him but she looks mad weak here. He still won’t even talk about her in interviews, and here she is telling it all. Bad move. She’s too pretty for this. Move on girl.
But he still won’t claim her. And Tae is a dummy too. He doesn’t claim her either. How did these pretty girls let Nelly’s dusty a-s play them so hard like this? What a shame.
Move on Ashanti. You can do so much better.
It’s amazing how people want to be all open when their career falls off.
I’ve always felt like the on and off relationships were a big waste of time. If you can’t make something work and you’ve tried over and over again and it still doesn’t work, MOVE ON. You’ll be mad at yourself when you see you’ve wasted years on something that should have never been.

Nelly claimed Tae once, he wore her picture on his shirt and said she was his girl. Tae bragged about it on twitter and put a pic up. Ashanti may want to just move on. Not saying he’ll end up with Tae, but he seems happy where he’s at. She should go out and do what makes her happy too.
