Wale became a trending topic on Twitter last week after he threatened to go to the offices of Complex Magazine and beat up an editor after he learned he did not make the publication’s “50 Best Albums of 2013” list.

Unknowingly to Wale, the editor recorded the profanity laced phone conversation and the rapper hung up the phone abruptly after he told the editor to make sure they had security ready because he would be showing up to offices the next day to get physical.

Wale recently posted a video to Instagram to make light of the situation, but in his recent interview with Hot 97 he made it clear that the situation is still a very serious one to him and he stands by his actions. He says:

“That’s rage, man. To be honest, if he was in front of me at the time, I would have went at him. Like I’ve said, I’m not perfect, man. Nobody’s perfect. Everybody can tell you what they would do and what they could’ve done if they was me but y’all not. You don’t know what you would do if you were in that position. You’re just coming off a monumental Grammy snub – SPIN and all these other people, they’re not appreciating what you and your fans stand for. I take that personal. I work hard, man. I’m around a lot of these artists that they promoting – they don’t care about the game as much as I do. The art form – I’m not for the money, dog. I love the music and I do this for the fans. … It’s just like sports, you want to see your team win – I don’t think it’s fair to those people for them to keep omitting.”

  1. There’s no defending this. He can be passionate about his music, there’s nothing wrong with that. But there’s a way to handle disappointments, and this wasn’t it. He should just move on and make sure he doesn’t keep promoting the same magazine that played him. The more he talks about it, the more press he gives the magazine.

  2. He’s still lame. And who said Complex has the final say on what constitutes as a good album anyway? They are just one magazine. They weren’t worth all of this.
