Jermaine Durpi and Mariah Carey parted ways professionally a few weeks ago after her last album didn’t perform well, but JD isn’t happy that most assumed Mariah did the dumping.

In a recent interview with VLAD TV, Jermaine talks about parting ways with Mariah but also jokingly shades her marriage to Nick Cannon in the process.

He says:

“That’s the story that people make because that’s what people…People think in their minds that that’s exactly how it has to happen. It can’t be…It just can’t possibly be that Jermaine woke up one morning and didn’t want to do it no more. That just can’t possibly happen, right? That just can’t possibly be the thing. Like he had to get dropped because that’s what happens in the world. N*ggas get dropped. But nobody else has a mind to say ‘You know what? I don’t really wanna do this sh*t no more. I got other sh*t I want to do. But I’m not that smart, right? I couldn’t do that. That’s impossible.’ That’s what I’m saying. It’s crazy that people just make these stories. I wasn’t dropped. I chose that…I chose to do this because me and Mariah are friends, right? First and foremost. And we make hit records in the studio…This was the ongoing joke. I have a relationship with Mariah better than her and her husband. I’ve known her longer than her and her husband known each other. With that being said, you don’t want to f*ck that up. I saw a lot of things happening with inside of me being her manager that could have f*cked that up.”

  1. JD has always been an a-shole who says whatever he wants and doesn’t care about the consequences, but obviously there’s some truth to him being closer to Mariah than Nick because they are divorcing.

  2. First off – sit your odd-looking, short a-s down Jermaine, and stop trying to find some relevancy on the back of this marriage.

If you were any good as a manager, you wouldn’t have “parted ways”. So quit trying to act like you didn’t utterly fail at your job.

  3. This is why the lambs have been dragging him ever since they found out he was managing her again. He’s very unprofessional and is too arrogant to be of any help to anyone’s career. And this interview is nothing but ego. Mariah will always be a legend, but she needs to cut this little shrimp off on a personal level as well.

  4. Whatever JD and this is exactly why Mariah dropped you. Instead of him being appreciative of Mariah giving him a chance he shades her. This is why you can’t help people with egos who don’t realize their most successful days are long gone. This is not the 90’s or early 2000’s you are irrelevant JD. Mariah made you relevant!

  5. This is why you don’t give lame n-ggas the time of day. You can’t work with them and you can’t marry them. Mariah better get it together and stop dealing with these lames.

    1. Well he needs to because he’s already burned bridges with Janet does he really want to be cut off by Mariah too? It’s not like people are lining up around the corner to work with him!!!!

  6. He’s such a shady person. I remember how he joked on Twitter about no one buying Mariah’s last album and he was still her manager at the time. Sleezeball.

  7. I saw the documentary on ATL Hip Hop last night and I respect a lot of the work JD put in but it’s his attitude and behavior that is going to hurt his legacy. He needs to humble himself.

  8. JD won’t stop running his mouth recklessly until he gets blacklisted. He hasn’t been a dope producer since The Emancipation of Mimi. That album came out in 2005.

  9. Ongoing joke? I find it hard to believe Mariah is sitting around laughing about her marriage falling apart. Jermaine needs to do better. He’s very selfish, egotistical and immature.

  10. So he basically is one of the reasons she flopped this time around and he has the audacity to joke about her failed marriage too when the ink ain’t even made it’s way on the divorce papers yet. Shame.
