There were a lot of mixed reactions when it was confirmed that BET would be bringing back “The Game,” but fans of the show were disappointed when  Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall were written out of the show.

Interestingly enough, it’s now been confirmed that BET will be saying goodbye to the show after season nine, and it’s at the request of the show’s creator.

Deadline writes:

Five months after renewing Mara Brock Akil’s The Game for an eighth season, BET this evening announced that its flagship comedy will be coming to an end. But before it bows out, The Game will get one more season, 9, which will be its last. Filming is underway on both Seasons 8 and 9, which will begin airing in early 2015. The Game was picked up by BET in 2009 when the comedy was cancelled by the CW after three seasons. “All good things must come to an end and after celebrating four successful seasons of The Game on BET, the Network has announced production is underway on the show’s final two seasons,” BET said in a statement on its Web site. “In January 2011 the cult following of The Game proved that the show was a fan favorite with 7.7 million viewers for its premiere debut on BET. With seasons eight and nine, we’re excited to end on a high note by giving Sabers fans a chance to bid farewell to their favorite players on and off the field.”

  1. I don’t like how much this show has changed since going to BET so I can’t say I’m going to miss it. And Tia and Pooch leaving was the last nail in the coffin too.

  2. They need to pull the plug now. Mara Akil gets on my damn nerves she sure knows how to ruin a great show in the end. I use to love The Game but the writing has been terrible and the storylines have been trash. Fans worked so hard to get that show back and they never delivered. The last season of Girlfriends was trash as well trying to replace Tony with Monica girl bye.

  3. This show should not have been on past season two. The writing was horrible, cliché and stupid. They were trying way too hard. Tasha Mack’s character further killed the show. Too desperate, tacky and classless. Good riddens!!!!

  4. Sad for the jobs lost but this show needs to go. They ruined it and all the bad actors they hired didn’t help things.
