Jaden Smith caught lots of backlash after he slammed school on Twitter and said he feels like it does nothing but brainwash kids, and now he and his sister are explaining why they feel school is useless.
Jaden tells the New York Times:
“Here’s the deal: School is not authentic because it ends. t’s not true, it’s not real. Our learning will never end. The school that we go to every single morning, we will continue to go to.
“You never learn anything in school.Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out.”
Willow adds:
“I went to school for one year. It was the best experience but the worst experience. The best experience because I was, like, ‘Oh, now I know why kids are so depressed.’ But it was the worst experience because I was depressed.”
Now I see why in my culture, kids are seen and not heard.
This^^^
These kids have more sense than most grownups. They said nothing but the truth.
Honestly, I don’t think school is as useful as it should be anymore. But they will be good no matter what because of their parents. Most kids don’t have the luxury to not go to school. So with that being said, they shouldn’t be saying this in interviews.
Amen
I’ve decided I’m just going to wait and see how these kids turn out when they become of age. It’s easy to call them weirdos but just maybe Jada and Will got it right. It’s too early to tell.
I totally agree with your statement. It’s too early to tell but what if they have something here. I feel like a lot of what is being taught in school these days is outdated and not reflective of our current society. Not to mention some of the lies, there is so much to learn and America doesn’t have the best Education system.
I’m grown and wonder sometimes what the point of school was too. Most of us with degrees are struggling and miserable in our jobs. So really, what was the point again? LOL.
The hell?
Well when you’re a rich kid who happens to be related to one of the wealthiest actors of all time, you can choose to avoid school and still have money. Most of us don’t have a choice. These privileged brats need to sit down somewhere.
I agree.
It’s easy to say school is not needed when you have millions in the bank and even then you still need some sort of education. Do these kids even have tutors? What about home school they talk like they not even into that. I know I always say this but I will say it again I love Will & Jada but their parenting is so suspect. I’m not saying these kids will be screwed up but if they do we all know why.
They’re giving me Scientology vibes.
Well that can’t be too smart and wise if they’re hanging out with those Kardashian kids.
Sorry but these kids are unlikable. Secondly, I blame Will constantly using his status to get them film roles as the reason they are so self entitled now.
I can’t take these kids seriously. Mommy and Daddy are the reasons they don’t need school.
When you’re not born into wealth, school is the path that makes it possible to provide for yourself. These Smith kids are a trip.
They should have kept it real and just said they don’t go to school because their parents are rich and famous.
Every time they speak I cringe.
I hope these kids don’t end up messed up.
They did not make any sense. It shows they have no schooling. It’s one thing to say, I don’t think school is valuable for me or I learn every day or my profession doesn’t require schooling. The whole driver’s ed analogy was nonsensical. There was no logic behind it, everyone I know got into an accident, therefore driver’s ed doesn’t work? People get into accidents every day. All of his friends are most likely teenagers, of course they are getting into accidents. Willow’s response completely through me off. School was a great experience because now I know why kids are depressed? They are priviliged children their opinion does not apply to most of the young adults in our country. They should have replied “no comment” to the schooling.
You do know the brain is not fully developed until the age of 25. Don”t believe me? Google it and these kids are a perfect example of this fact. What they think and feel now will not be the same when they are much older. They do not have the ability to think beyond where they currently are in life. This is where the PARENTS are supposed to step in. Jesus Jada and Will these kids are screwed. So sad.
