Kanye West quickly became a target of the media after he infamously ruined Taylor Swift’s big moment at the VMAs in defense of Beyonce, and once again the rapper brought the drama at the Grammys last night when Beyonce lost out Album of the Year to Beck.
Kanye walked up on the stage when Beck came up to accept the award, but quickly decided it wasn’t worth it and headed back to his seat.
But after the awards ended, Kanye told E! News that he feels it’s time artists stop supporting the Grammys.
He says:
“I don’t even know what he said, all I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more. ‘Flawless,’ Beyoncé video. Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé, and at this point, we tired of it.
“Because what happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration, and we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day and they listen to that Beyoncé album and they feel like it takes them to another place.
“Then they do this whole promotional event… and they’re running music over somebody’s speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. Like, no, we not playing with them no more! By the way, I got my wife, my daughter and my clothing line, so I’m not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk but I am here to fight for creativity. That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight. But you all know what it meant when ‘Ye walks on the stage.”
Last night was the first time Kanye attended the Grammys in six years. Check out the video below:

Kanye needs to have several seats. Beyonce is AMAZING but he cannot discredit Beck whose also an artist and has been around for years. I wish this man would get a grip.
I never thought she would get AOTY. It’s been a long time since a black artist got that. Regardless, she did something brave and it paid off. Beck could never just drop an album and sell like Bey did. His album didn’t even sell more than 300,000 copies in the US. But whatever. She still has 20 Grammys, so I’m proud of her regardless. But the Grammys been dirty for a long time. Maybe one day we will stop giving them views.

Kanye would have a hissy fit if folks kept raining on his damn parade like he keeps doing to others. Who the hell made him judge and jury as to who has talent or not? Some folks would argue that he’s more of a caricature, than an actual talent at this point. And who could blame them, when he’s running around dissing everybody on behalf of Beyonce who really does not need his help.
PS: No wonder Kim is always stalking Bey. Her husband is seriously in love with Beyonce. It must suck to know that all the a-s fillers and plastic surgery in the world would always come second to true talent. Kanye is a douchebag as a man and as a husband. And though I abhor Kim, I would kick his a-s for shaming me…big time!
She was robbed. Period.
She was. What she did with that album will go down in history. But we won’t be talking about who won the AOTY in 2015 though. I mean Janet, MJ and Prince lost the AOTY too. But all of them are legends. Grammys aren’t that important in the grand scheme of things.
Sigh smh at Kanye he once again tried to rob somebody of their moment. Don’t get me wrong do I believe Beyonce should have won absolutely but she didn’t it is what it is. Beck has been around for years and is an established artist he doesn’t owe Beyonce or anybody anything why should he give the award to Beyonce according to Kanye. Kanye is just using Beyonce once again to air out his frustrations out on the Grammy’s. I actually agree with what he is saying about the Grammy’s as a whole but why does he have to try to ruin someone moment. Kanye got so much of a problem with the Grammy’s why was he even performing why was he front and center with Kim and her Ric Flair robe. If he really feels this way stay home!!!!
I heard Beck’s album and I feel like it’s his worst album to date. It’s simply not his best work. I really thought it would come down to Sam or Bey. Their albums are better. But Beyonce seems not to care as much as Kanye and she shouldn’t. I mean Mrs. Carter has 20 grammys. She made history with the album and the Grammys she did win. So she’s good either way. Let Beck have his moment.
Ain’t Bey the most awarded black female Grammy winner of all time now? Yeah I don’t think the Hive and the Hive President Kanye need to be sulking. She has a hell of a career.
The Grammys always does this though. When it comes to AOTY, they like to give it to the unpopular artist. It’s like a big f you to the popular people. I was more surprised Pharrell won as much as he did with one song.
Guys? I love Beyonce and I love her music. What most fail to realize is that the Grammy’s doesn’t look at how many albums you have sold. Didn’t Taylor Swift loose many Grammys to Sam smith who sold less than her. Beck plays instruments, writes his own songs and pretty much is a key ingredient in his songs from beginning to the end. This really factors a lot for the Grammy’s. People just don’t know that and they reward that when they see fit.
Kanye can give back all his 20 Grammys back to them then. This whining is clearly getting out of hand. I just wish he would disappear.
Your reasoning doesn’t explain why Prince (who also writes his own songs and plays multiple instruments) lost AOTY twice. It’s not a talent thing, it’s a race thing. That is Kanye’s point. But he won’t come out and say it frankly because of the backlash he would receive for saying it.
AOTY is the most prestigious award at the Grammys. It is very hard for a black artist to get it. MJ, Janet, Prince and other legends have lost out to whites for AOTY. Blacks can only get the throwaway Grammys.
Kanye has to understand that Bey losing sometimes isn’t a big deal. She has a lot of Grammys. Heck she has a lot of awards period. He can chill.
I think Kanye was more upset than Bey was. She seemed so ok with it. But of course she would. Homegirl has 20 Grammys to her name.
Not even a Bey stan but she handled her loss with class. I wish Kanye could do the same.
Maybe if we have more Kanye things would change fre black artist.as kanye said, they use black artist to promote their stuff then charge big money for advertisement, but give the awards to whites .They did not use Beck to Promote the Grammy’s. Beck has been around from the 90’s he maybe an excellent musician,but what impact has he had in the last year? The Grammy’s always seems to use the big awards like its for lifetime achievement when it should be for what happen in the last year. i don’t care what an artist did 20 yrs ago.The next Black person to win AOTY may have to produce a thriller like album and he/she may still not win.
Why did Sam Smith song got so much nomination and not John legend song “all of me” did not when it was the wedding song of the summer. Even that stupid song “all about the Bass” got nominated for record of the year over John legend all of me. Kanye is saying what lots of black artist wants to say but are scared to speak up. every time M&M put out an album he gets nominated for best rap album and he won 99% of the time.
