While he’s planning a wedding with his fiancée Erica Mena, Bow Wow is still getting acting roles and he will be starring in the new “CSI” spin-off, “CSI: Cyber.”

Although he realizes “Empire” is a huge success for FOX, Bow Wow hinted in a new interview that he thinks the show is full of black stereotypes.

He tells Global 14:

“When we were still filming Cyber episodes, Empire‘s first episode premiered. Fans were saying, ‘Man, you should have been on the show.’ But we all don’t rap or play basketball. We can do so many things. There are young African-Americans who are intelligent enough to work at the FBI. That’s what’s so bright. Hopefully, I can help start a new wave of young black actors who don’t want to stereotype themselves.

In related news, “Empire” has now topped “The Big Bang Theory” as the highest rated scripted broadcast program of the 2014-2015 television season. Last night part one and two of the season finale brought in a whopping 16.5 million viewers.

  1. Shut up Shad! Your petticoat is showing. If they’d offered you a part you’d be out there preening like a damn peacock! These jealous negroes are really beginning to get on my damn nerves.

  2. That last sentence was shady. And yes, the show has lots of stereotypes but I think we’re starting to see more diverse roles for black actors. But it’s hilarious Bow Wow thinks he’s the one responsible for that.

  3. I can’t deny the show does portray certain stereotypes, but I still enjoy it. And I don’t doubt for a minute that Bow Wow would have taken a role if he was offered one. Everyone is clamoring to get on this show right now.

  4. He’s pro black when it’s convenient for him but let’s not forget he said black people are jealous he’s with a puerto rican thot. Yeah, f-ck him.

  5. What is it about Empire that has so many people pressed and bitter? Is it the ratings? I saw that Bow Wow’s new show comes on after it, so I don’t understand why he’s salty. Empire isn’t affecting his show’s ratings at all. Now the people on Blackish and Modern Family have a right to be salty. Empire has definitely ruined their ratings.

    1. It’s the hype behind it and the fact that the ratings are actually backing up the hype. People did the same thing to Scandal, but since Empire’s ratings are two times better, the criticism is worse.

  6. I wish I knew enough about this square’s career to really call him out. The fact that I don’t says a lot… So does the fact that he’s marrying Erica Mena. I’ll leave it at that.

  7. Sure it promotes some black stereotypes but he’s about to marry a stereotype so there’s no need for him to be standing on a soap box right now.

  8. Bow Wow just promote your show and stop throwing shade on the next show. Yes Empire stereotypes us, but you are a walking stereotype of a black man marrying outside his race(LSLH) when they have a little money so stop it. Just do you and let Empire be great.

  9. Does Erica Mena not act like a stereotype on LHHNY and yet he’s still marrying her, correct? I don’t think he really has a problem with stereotypes. I think the real issue is he is a tad bit jealous a show he has nothing to do with is blowing up and no one has reached out to him to make a guest appearance.

  10. But I bet he wouldn’t mind portraying some of those stereotypes if he was in Empire. Just hating but he will be the same guy begging Lee Daniels for a movie opportunity smh.

  11. Everyone has something to say about this show, even when the interviewer never brought it up. LOL.

  12. Another day, another unwanted opinion about Empire. Anyway, the season finale was all over the place. I was entertained every second though.

  13. There’s a lot of people watching Empire and it ain’t just black people. It’s entertaining and the characters are interesting. People need to stop hating.

  14. Damn black people can’t have anything. We finally get a show on the air that is breaking ratings records, and now people are coming out the woodworks trying to hate. Even our own people. It’s sad!!!!!

  15. As long as he’s with Erica Mena, his opinion on black people and portraying stereotypes is null and void. I can go to YouTube right now and pull up many videos of her cussing, fighting and acting like a ratchet mess to get a check from Mona. Let’s not.

  16. He has been a black stereotype in some of his movies and his rap lyrics haven’t been all that positive in the past. So he shouldn’t be so critical of Empire.

  17. “But we all don’t rap and play basketball.” -quoted from a rapper who has had a starring role in a basketball movie.
