When asked how he’s been able to deal with his on and off struggles with depression, August claims his belief in God has gotten him through the dark times.
Had it not have been for his belief in God, he thinks he would have killed himself.
He says:
“It’s about hope. That’s what we live off. We thrive off of hope. We roll out of bed off of hope. I hope that my day goes well. I hope that I get this check. I hope my family’s healthy.
“I don’t have nothing else to lean back on so my faith, it can’t waver. If I did, I would kill myself. I would be done. I’d be out of here if I ever stopped believing. I’d be gone. I know that for a fact.”

This actually made me sad. I hope August stays faithful and keeps his relationship with God strong. He’s been through a lot.
Yeah it is sad but the good thing is he realizes God can get him through it and He can.

Depression is real. We have to start talking about mental health more in the black community. So many of us are struggling.

I can definitely relate hmmmm I am starting to like him more….speaking to Jesus and believing in God does wonders…especially if you are on the right path striving for w/e it is you want…it may not come when you want it but you have to be hopeful and keep faith that it will come when you need it
His vulnerability makes him more attractive. I hope he stays with his faith especially considering the lifestyle he’s apart of.
