Last night social media erupted with its love of “The Wiz Live!,” and many took to their social media accounts to give their opinions on NBC’s live take on the cult classic that was easily one of the biggest parts of most of our childhoods.
The network managed to cast big names such as Queen Latifah, Common, Mary J. Blige, David Alan Grier, and Emmy winner Uzo Aduba and Ne-Yo and by the looks of the majority of the social media feedback, the cast delivered.
Newcomer Shanice Williams easily shined as Dorothy too.
Now that the ratings are in, it’s safe to say “The Wiz Live!” was a smash hit.

Well damn! #BlackExcellence
Nice.
Y’all don’t laugh at a brother but I still haven’t seen the one with Mike and Diana in it. But I caught most of this last night and I thought it was cool.
There were so many reasons to love this but number one for me is they were rocking so much natural hair. When is the last time black children had these kind of positive images about black people? I’m going to buy this DVD multiple times and pass it out as Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers.
