Dame Dash made a recent appearance on “The Real,” and he tells the ladies that he does believe he could have prevented Aaliyah’s death if he was there for her video shoot.
He says:
“Well, there is no chance that if I was there, we would have been on that plane. You know what I’m saying? So, it would have never happened that way. Um, you know, Aaliyah and I was in Miami and she was shooting a video in Miami. And I was in Miami with uh State Property. And she was gonna do a record with Freeway and you know, Hype had decided that he wanted to take the video to the Bahamas. And my son had a football game and I had to go back to New York for court. And I had all my nephews with me as well ’cause I used to roll with them. ‘Cause you know, I’m a single father and I had my son Boogie since he was eight. You know what I mean, I had to go to court and get him whatever. So my whole world kind of revolved around him, so I broke out to go back to New York. She told me she was going to the Bahamas and I was against it like, ‘Yo, don’t go.’ And then down to the last, we had the Blackberry, down to the last Blackberry that we had, before she went there, she was like, ‘Yo, I don’t like that plane.’ And I was like, ‘Don’t get on it.’ And she was just like, ‘You know, I gotta do it.’ You know, it was a complicated situation, but she had to go do that video. So you know if I was there, I would have made sure that jet that was supposed to be for her, the g4, she would have been on that. I wouldn’t have got on that plane, you know what I’m saying? So it probably would have been different. But you know um, everything happens for a reason. You know, and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and you just gotta deal with the cards that life deals you.”

It’s probably therapeutic for him to think this way but he can’t really know how things would have turned out for sure. Babygirl is really missed.
Her death could have been prevented in a number of ways. Such a tragedy.
I remember where I was that day. I was such a huge fan.
Unfortunately we can’t change the past. I miss Aaliyah and her music will never get old for me. Anyway, I live for Dame’s rants. Let me go find some on YouTube.
Reading about her being hesitant about getting on just makes me so sad all over again.
So sad. I hope he finds peace one day. When we lose people we love in such shocking ways, it’s not uncommon to feel like we should have been able to prevent their deaths.
I guess I’ll be that person today but wasn’t he cheating on her right before she passed? If so, it’s lowdown for him to keep talking about her all the time when he wasn’t doing her right while she was alive.
There’s nothing he could have done. We can’t change fate.
He better not be talking about this for attention. That would be low even for him.
Slightly off topic, but I sure do hope Aaliyah’s music will get freed one day. So many young people are missing out.
AWWWWWWWW I feel for him I know he really did love her and misses her (shyt I miss Aaliyah….but I think he is feeling bad still because she was actually done with the video and all and trying to rush back home to see him…and decided to get on that small a$$ plane wit the equipment and mad people. Sometimes you can’t rush and always listen to that lil voice in your head…anyway OAN Dame is lookin mad old…like some1’s Gramps/Uncle
