Cam Newton and Ray Lewis Use Black on Black Crime Rhetoric Amid Latest Police Brutality Incidents

When asked about the killing of  Keith Lamont Scott, Cam says in a recent press conference:

“I’m a firm believer in justice. I’m a firm believer of doing the right thing and I can’t repeat it enough of just holding people accountable.

“I’m an African-American. I’m not happy how justice has been kind of dealt over the years…with the state of oppression in our communities. But we also as black people have to do right by ourselves. We can’t be hypocrites.”

Ray Lewis also used black on black crime as a talking point when he made a recent appearance on “Undisputed.” He says:

“You think about what Colin is doing. He’s standing up for it and saying let’s bring awareness to it. But since he’s been kneeling, we’ve still had numerous murders of cops and Dwyane Wade said it best, ‘Until we as black people value where we are in this country, we will never see change.’ Until we understand that we must stop killing each other, to really bring an issue to this.”

  1. Let all these simpletons keep exposing themselves. And Ray is just projecting. He still feels guilty for the murder he was involved in. That’s what makes him talking about this even more cringeworthy.

  2. But how is Ray going to bring up black violence when…you know what, not today Satan. I’ll just say he’s a huge hypocrite.

  3. The phrase “black on black crime” needs to be eliminated from convos such as these. It is tool that helps blame black people for systematic oppression, as if white on white crime doesn’t exist. In conversations of police brutality, it has NOTHING to do with the issue at hand. Yes, it happens, but white people kill each other, rob each other, etc everyday. But unarmed whites are not killed during routine stops. They are blaming these players for bringing attention to the problem, which is just as big an issue as “black on black crime”.

  4. But Ray Lewis is a murderer, no? He needs to shut up on the subject. As far as Cam is concerned, in about ten years, he will regret all of this.
