Shay reveals to her sisters that she and Alicia dated the same woman. Shay feels this is another source of their tension.

Eventually, Keshia and her sisters confront Alicia and convince her to stay, at least for one more sit down.

Alicia has one more sit down with her children.

Alicia feels that she is being attacked and ridiculed. Iyanla attempts to have Shay to apologize and to be honest. Shay is indifferent to Alicia leaving. Keshia, Preccious and the other daughters want her to stay. Marcelle speaks next and is happy all of them were able to get together and work out their issues. She spent six years in prison for armed robbery, so it’s very important to her that they all work out their issues so they can grow close. Bianca is trusting in this process and mentions that if she and her other sisters can work out their differences, Alicia and Shay can do the same.

“I feel like you are leaving me again.” -Preccious

Alicia decides to stay and finish the session with her daughters.

Iyanla has a breakthrough with Alicia.

The next morning, Alicia and Iyanla meet on the front porch as the other daughters get ready for more bonding. Iyanla thanks her for staying and presents her with white roses.

Iyanla next probes into why Alicia feels useless. Iyanla lets her know that she needs to alter how she is hearing the daughters. They are revealing their experiences, not attacking her personally.

“You as a mother can be in a relationship with your adult daughters in a different way.” -Iyanla

“I forgive myself for not being more aware and forgive myself for not listening and mistaking their cries as attacks.” -Iyanla

Iyanla tells her that she should no longer feel guilty for not knowing how to do better. Iyanla lets her know that she can relate to and sympathizes with Alicia’s pain.

Iyanla sits down with Shay.

Iyanla is looking to hear Shay process the news of her father molesting Alicia and Preccious. Shay says she is numb to the news. Iyanla let her know that she needs to have a conversation with her father so they can heal.

“He’s a child molester.” -Shay

However, Iyanla says she can still love him, albeit from a distance. However, Shay is still angry with how her relationship with Alicia is. Shay reveals that they dated the same woman. Alicia got verbally abusive with Shay and Alicia is still involved with Shay’s ex.

Shay isn’t ready to let this aspect go and feels Alicia is unwilling to accept her sexuality.

Shay confronts Alicia about her sexuality.

Alicia and Shay to discuss their experience with the same woman. Shay takes the floor first and calls Alicia dishonest. Shay feels like Alicia won’t be honest about her romantic interest in women, and she gets frustrated when Alicia tries to downplay the relationship she is still having with Shay’s ex girlfriend.

Alicia responds saying, “we were friends that eventually became lovers. It was just an experience for me… I was a ‘try’sexual.”

Iyanla focuses the conversation surrounding why Alicia never told Shay about being involved with her friend. Alicia says she did tell her about the woman, with Shay instantly denying.

The two argue over the situation.

“She can’t forgive me because she can’t forgive herself.” -Shay

Iyanla was able to calm Shay and Alicia down but another argument ensues when Alicia says she thought they gotten over this situation.

Alicia suddenly walks away from the situation after she stands up and gets into Shay’s face. Shay calls her a b**** and a liar in the process.

“She needs her weed so she can get her mind right!” -Alicia

Iyanla criticizes Shay for her behavior and arguing with her mother. Iyanla also tells Shay, “She was taught how to lie.” The lying is a learned behavior for how to deal with being molested. She convinces to go confront Alicia and ask for forgiveness.

Iyanla brings the two back together and Shay apologizes to Alicia. Alicia accepts the apology and the two hug. Alicia then asks Shay to forgive her.

“I’m hurt that the relationship we used to have went away.” -Alicia

Iyanla feels the family is finally having a breakthrough.

Iyanla brings the family back together afterwards and provides them with tools that they can use to continue the healing process. They use bricks as personifications of the types of pain Alicia passed down to her daughters. One by one, Alicia and her daughters throw them into the lake. The ladies then take a family photo together.

“It doesn’t end here, it begins here.” -Iyanla
