‘The Family Hustle’ Recap: Tiny’s Mom Checks TI + TI Gets Turned Down by Tiny

Tiny is pissed.

Tiny is angry about TI’s interview with Angie Martinez in which he called their marriage a distraction. She tells him that their marriage never got in the way of his career before so she questions why he would even go there.

“That ain’t never stopped you before. That’s just disrespectful” -Tiny

Tiny wants an apology from TI for saying what he said and thinks he needs to clear it up publicly.

TI enters into an intervention of sorts.

As he walks into his office to talk about his upcoming Grand Hustle tour, his staff is having a debate about his interview.

“I tried being a good husband. Apparently I wasn’t that good at it being that she filed for a divorce.” -TI

When confronted by the women in his office, he mentioned that he didn’t say what he said. He mentioned the day before he fought Floyd Mayweater in Las Vegas, he had an all day argument with Tiny because he fell asleep, missing a phone call from her.

When one of his staff members explain that the interview is a bad looks for his career and will make him look like a bad guy, he stands by his actions.

“Well then say hello to the bad guy!” -TI

Tiny’s mom checks TI.

Miss Diane sent TI an angry text so he decides it would be best for them to talk about it face to face.

He arrives to their home and the conversation is intense from jump.

Miss Diane calls him out about doing dirt while still being married to Tiny and reminds him that despite everything, they are still legally married and he supposed to be honoring God with his marriage.

She then asks TI where they will end up. TI tells Miss Diane Tiny is one of his very best friends. “We grew up kind of together.”

He also reveals to Miss Diane that he isn’t confident in the two of them fixing their marriage. He is also willing to apologize but doesn’t want to deal with the past issues. He feels like Tiny isn’t interested in leaving the past in the past and moving forward. He also isn’t confident that the two of them can be happy together at this point.

The two shake hands at the end of their conversation and Miss Diane decides to still be hopeful they can work things out.

TI and Tiny finally have their talk.

TI asks Tiny, “What did I say that was wrong?”

TI then tries to clarify how he viewed Tiny and their marriage separate, so he wasn’t trying to disrespect her with his comments. This causes Tiny to get angry and an argument ensues. Both throw quick jabs back and forth as TI desperately tries to have Tiny understand what he was trying to say.

Tiny responds to TI by saying, “You signed up to be a husband… You still get work done [but] you ain’t never home.”

However, TI still stood behind what he said in the interview. “I feel the marriage is distracting me from my greatness.”

Things escalate when TI says Tiny is misconstruing his words. However, he shows a bit of honesty by letting Tiny that he wasn’t a very good husband.

“I respect you enough to tell you that maybe I ain’t able to be the man you need me to be.”

Tiny then says he should’ve told her this in the beginning.

“It’s not you, It’s the marriage,” TI then tells Tiny. Tiny responds immediately saying, “I am the marriage.”

As things calm down between the two, TI finally admits that she has a point. He then apologizes and says he didn’t mean to speak against her in any way. He still feels that she is a great friend of his.

Tiny is disappointed that TI isn’t willing to change his way of thinking, making it hard for their marriage to work.

“I know who I am dealing with at this point.” -Tiny

They end the discussion and TI takes Tiny outside to see the new car he bought her. It’s a white Mercedes.

“I treat my friends well.”- TI

Tiny accepts the car but says they aren’t getting back together. In a confessional, she admits TI would buy her gifts in the past to make up for his bad choices, and it would work seeing as she would forgive him and remain in the marriage. But things are different for her now and she’s not going to fall for it this time.

After she checks out her new Mercedes, she heads back to the house and TI follows. He thinks a new car will get him an invite back to the bedroom, but Tiny shuts him down and makes him leave.

  1. TI lacks common sense. You can’t call your marriage a distraction and not expect your wife to be offended.

  2. I said it before and I’ll say it again, TI ain’t sh-t and ain’t never been sh-t. Tiny should have gotten the hell on a long time ago. This is why that ride or die sh-t is a waste of time. Most men don’t appreciate that sh-t.
