We think it’s pretty fair to say that every artist nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist deserves to be in the running.
However, most seem to think it’s either going to be Remy Ma or Nicki Minaj to walk away with the honor. And with Nicki not attending the BET Awards this year, many are suspecting Remy will pull it off.
Interestingly enough, Cardi B cannot be denied. She decided to walk away from “Love and Hip Hop New York” after she inked a major deal with Atlantic Records.
She even got her first acting gig on BET’s smash hit, “Being Mary Jane.”
Cardi has even been featured in top publications like Vogue and Fader.
As of right now, her latest single Bodak Yellow is getting plenty of buzz.
While everyone may be eying Remy, it’s very possible that Cardi will nab the award and surprise many.
Young M.A. should not be counted out either. The up and coming rapper had a smash hit with “Ooouuu” and it dominated the club scene and radio stations across the country for months. Even Beyonce herself used the song in an Instagram post.
Missy is a legend and one of the most successful female rappers of all time. She had an epic return to the spotlight during Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2015 and stole the show so much so that all of her music began to chart on iTunes. With new music out, it’s not hard to believe she has the potential to once again dominate.

I’m going to probably be in the minority but I say Cardi B. Chick has next and she didn’t have to get in a rap beef to progress either.

BET can go two ways. Be messy and give it Remy since Nicki isn’t showing up anyway. Or give it to Cardi, which is the safe and most sensible choice. Remy has been getting a lot of buzz but only for the beef. I don’t think you should win just because you made a good diss track.
Cardi, Missy, Nicki and Young M.A. have their own hype. Remy has yet to prove herself without being attached to someone else. So I do not feel she needs to win. But nowadays everything is about a headline. Her winning is easy publicity for BET. That’s exactly what will happen.

Remy should not be rewarded for being jealous of Nicki for years and taking her shot when she felt Nicki was the most vulnerable for a dragging from the public. Honestly, it’s saying something that after Shether, Remy still had to go back to LHHNY to pay the bills. Cardi actually left and Young M.A. is out here doing her thing too without needing beefs or reality shows. So it should honestly only be between Cardi and Young M.A. But since everything is about hype, they have turned this into Nicki vs Remy.
