Jay-Z’s ‘4:44’ Album Goes Platinum, Here’s How

When it comes to long-term success in the rap game, Jay-Z’s resume is pretty remarkable.

He’s no stranger to platinum albums, but with “4:44” now officially being platinum, Mr. Carter now has more platinum albums than any other Hip Hop artist in history.

Not too bad for someone who has managed to upset his own peers with his lyrics about flossing for Instagram and having good credit.

According to RIAA, “4:44” is already platinum thanks to streams and Sprint sign ups.

Variety writes:

Jay-Z’s 13th and latest studio album, “4:44,” has been certified platinum by the RIAA, based purely on Tidal streaming and Sprint download numbers, less than six days after its June 30 release. The news was announced officially on Wednesday morning (July 5) by both the RIAA and Jay’s label, Roc Nation, although judging by the photo of him with RIAA CEO Cary Sherman, it may have passed the mark (or been anticipated) much earlier.

“Props to JAY, he’s done it again! Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career,” Sherman said in a statement.

According to Roc Nation’s release, all 13 of Jay’s studio albums are certified platinum, more than any other hip-hop artist — as well as four other platinum albums in collaboration with Kanye West, Linkin Park and R. Kelly.

    1. They will be strong. Even with the Samsung deal, he sold over half a million in physical copies the week after.

  1. Keep in mind he did all this while writing his own lyrics, dropped it on his own label and made it available to stream on his own streaming service. If this ain’t black excellence, I don’t know what is.

  2. Not a fan of the Carters but I respect what they have managed to do. They inspire a lot of black people to be great and I can’t hate on that. Congrats to Jay.

  3. Meanwhile Lil Boosie still reminiscing about his time in jail, seeing homosexual activities….sagging and wearing a bunch of jewelry taking pix with money at 45 not realizing he’s disconnected…..Future too and the rest of the ignorant rapper brigade

  4. This is why he’s one of the greatest. He’s not even affected by ageism, something most artists can’t run away from.

  5. This is the first album I’ve liked of his since the Black album. So please believe I will actually buy it when it goes on sale.

  6. Lies and BS. Roc Nation bought all the albums just like they do for Rihanna.. I’ll wait for numbers that don’t include tidal

    1. What does Rihanna have to do with this? This is based on streams. How are y’all shook already by streams? You should change your name to StayMad sis.

      1. I see you’re back from that rock you crawled from. And StayReal is right. The real tea is the actual sales. Now I do believe he will do well because he has those loyal and annoying fans like his wife. But I do like this album. Just like I enjoyed Lemonade. I don’t care for the Carters but I will give them pops when due. We will see what the numbers look like next week though.
