Micah grows frustrated with Blue.
The episode begins as Charley and Ralph Angel are getting ready for their day. Micah, who is still reeling from the time in the jail is very short with Blue as he wants to play.He is also looking for his math book, that Blue took and decorated. When Blue gives the book back, Micah chastises him, telling him not to touch his stuff. Darla shows up with a fish toy and swim trunks for a surprise swimming trip. When they all leave, Ralph Angels sees the loan check for the soybean crop has arrived.
Aunt Vi, Hollywood, Charley and Nova adjust to new beginnings.
Hollywood quit his job at the oil rig and he’s adjusting to his new life. He’s been busy working on household chores and fixed everything in the house. He is surprised to be done with everything and doesn’t feel right about it. Aunt Vi tells him to relax and rest up. She assures him that it’s okay to rest.
Charley is at the mill with Remy and is going over running the mill with other black farmers. She impresses the farmers with the way she’s got everything under control, with the help of Remy. They hired an operations manager who has over 20 years of experience. One of them tells her that they are really impressed with how she is handling things. They all congratulate her and shake her hand.
Nova is meeting with the new editor for the paper. He wants Nova to change her strategy of covering mass incarcerations, with a more positive spin. He also wants her to stop with the negative pieces. Nova scoffs at this but seems to be persuaded.
Charley and Remy meet in another empty space at the mill where she goes over another piece of her future business plans when she gets a call from her realtor. She doesn’t get the place that she really wanted. However, she is invited out to look at a new property.
A new problem arises at the farm.
Ralph Angel and Prosper are at the farm, checking on the sugar cane, and going over the plan to plant the soybean crop. However, their attention turns to the sugar cane as they find white flies all over the sugar cane crop. This is an infestation that can destroy their crop yield.
Charley persuaded Remy to go with her to meet her realtor to look at a new property. When they get to the property, Ralph Angel and Prosper call Charley and Remy to let them know about the infestation. Charley says she will pay to have pesticide sprayed on the crop. This RA happy because he doesn’t have to use his loan to pay for it.
Charley and Nova receive good advice.
Nova meets her friend who delivered twins. They opened the gifts Nova gave them and Nova prays over the children. Once the kids are sleep, Nova talks to her friend. Nova tells her that she isn’t getting along with the new editor because he is killing her stories. Her friend tells her to say she’ll quit if they won’t run her stories. However, Nova says she will “go along, to get along.”
Darla brings Blue back to the farm. She tells RA that she wants Blue to take swimming lessons. RA thinks it’s a good idea but is hesitant about Darla paying for them. However, he tells Darla he’s okay with it. This pleases her.
Charley and Remy recap at the diner. Remy doesn’t think it’s a good idea for Charley to rent a place in the same neighborhood the Landry’s live. Charley thinks her residence won’t matter but Remy thinks this could rub the farmers the wrong way. As they are debating this, Hollywood walks in to see Aunt Vi. He tells her that he misses her and she smiles. Aunt Vi is busy, so much so, she tells her friend that she can’t bake pies to celebrate her grandson’s birth, to which Hollywood says he can help.
Charley and Ralph Angel clash over their children’s conflict with one another.
At the farm, Charley and Ralph Angel are going over what to do about the damaged crop. They stand to lose up to 10 percent of the crop. Micah is there at the table trying to do his homework. Blue comes over with his doll trying to play when he runs into Micah, which surprises him and he knocks Blue to the ground. Ralph Angel runs over to Micah and hems him up against the wall telling him to never touch Blue like that again. Charley gets RA off of Micah and then Micah grabs his books and runs off.
Blue is upset and begins crying.
This incident drives a wedge between Charley and Micah. Charley pleads to Ralph Angel to forgive Micah. RA tells Charley that Micah is soft, as she tries to compare his short time in the jail to RA’s four year prison sentence.
When the spray kills off the flies, Charley learns they have to still clean off the leaves. Ralph Angel is still angered by the previous nights events, telling Charley not to worry about helping clean the leaves.

Aunt Vi and Hollywood are busy baking the pies. Ralph Angel calls Hollywood for help on the farm. He doesn’t want to leave but Vi says its okay.
Darla and Nova have a tough time on their jobs.
Nova is having a tough time getting help for her story. She’s talking to a city official about her incarceration story but the woman abruptly ends the conversation. She lets it be known that Nova will have trouble talking to anyone else because of her reputation of taking the city to task.
RA calls Darla and asks her to come to the farm and help clean off the sugar cane crop. Darla’s supervisor tells her that she can’t leave to help Ralph. However, she shows up and they are joined by Charley, Nova and other black farmers in the area. Some of them are surprised to see Charley so willing to help.
As the cleaning goes on, Charley follows Nova into the house for a water break. Charley asks Nova about Remy’s suggestion about moving to the fancy house she looked at and the incident between Ralph Angel and Charley. She reveals to Nova that she isn’t ready to leave the farmhouse despite the tension between with Ralph Angel.
Aunt Vi notices the tension between Charley and RA as she approached them with pies. RA reveals to Aunt Vi the letter his father left behind, leaving him the entire farm. Aunt Vi says it isn’t a good idea to approach Charley about this new development, as it will really cause a rift between them.
Despite the beef, Ralph Angel learns Charley has his back.
Later that night, Charley and Micah talk about staying closer to the farm. Micah is okay with this as nothing there or in New Orleans will “feel like home,” in Micah’s eyes. Their conversation is interrupted by sheriff deputies coming by looking for Ralph Angel. They have a warrant for his arrest due to a parole violation. They received word of gun shots. Charley tells the sheriff that she fired off the gun because she got spooked by wildlife. She then tells them she will be moving out the next day, and the gun will leave with her. Despite their beef, Charley stood behind her brother, persuading them to not to arrest RA.
Ralph Angel apologizes for how he acted and thanked her. Charley tells RA that she will always have his back.
Later that night, Ralph Angel goes to Micah, as Charley is sleeping. RA tells Micah that he is open and available to talk to if he wants to. Micah also apologies to Ralph Angel for hitting blue. Ralph Angel also apologized for how he acted towards Micah.
“When you’re inside, it practically normal to act like animals. But out here, we’re humans. We gotta remember that.” – RA
Hollywood apologizes to Vi for making a mess making the pies. She brushes it off. When he tells Vi he misses working, she tells him to be happy about retiring. Ironically, Hollywood inspires her to look into creating a business, making pies. When Vi says her dream is to make people happy with her pies, Hollywood says he’ll help her figure it out.
Micah and Blue squash their issues, Darla gets bad news.
The next day, Micah approaches Blue to apologize and thank him for sharing his room. He also tells him if he won’t harm him again. He presents Blue with a drawing toy. Blue happily accepts and hugs his big cousin.
At the end of the episode, Charley has their family including Remy and Hollywood helping them move into a place on the Sugar Mill property.
Nova tells Ralph Angel that’s she glad he made up with Charley. They also suspect that the Landry family had everything to do with the police trying to pin RA for a parole violation.
Lastly, Darla’s supervisor fires her. She went against her supervisor’s wishes and left early to help RA with the farm. Although she tells him that she needs the job for her recovery, the supervisor doesn’t care, telling her to leave before security escorts her away.

RA is too demanding at times. Darla had a job. She just can’t up and leave when he wants her to.
Exactly. He needs to get over himself with his fine a-s. Lmao.
Aunt Vi gave excellent advice. He needs to never tell his sisters about that letter.
I was so scared RA was going to get locked up.
