Mac is dying as Grace demands to know Sophia’s location.
Grace is standing over Mack as he calls out for an ambulance. She demands to know where her daughter is.
He is bleeding out and she tells Mack she isn’t calling anyone until he tells her where she is. His final words are, “I’m sorry.”
He stops talking or moving and talking. As a result, she calls 911.
She’s being interrogated by Memphis detectives, who say she had a motive since she murdered Mack over her daughter. Another detective comes over to tell them Grace’s daughter is home safe.
It’s the morning and Kevin climes out of bed, next to Aaron, to check on his son in the other room. As he rocks his son to sleep, Aaron wakes wondering where Kevin went off to.
Grace is met by her thankful parents.
Grace is in the hospital and doctors are capturing her injuries on her body for detectives. Despite this, she is free to go, according to detectives. She is told they will be calling her in for a sit-down about the incident. She is still badly bruised and hurt from the altercation.
Meanwhile, Mae and Bishop James are in the waiting area. James quiets Mae from talking about Mack when she attempts to recall a childhood memory.
“Our daughter almost died tonight. Pardon me if I ask to be excused from hearing about the man who tried to kill her.” – Bishop James
As Grace walks out out the room she was examined in, they walk up to Grace and console her. Mae tells her that she doesn’t blame her for what happened.
“I don’t blame you. I know it was self-defense.” – Mae
Grace begins to sob, telling her mom, “I know it was.”
Grace faces the reality of her actions.
They hug and tell each other they love each other. When Grace gets home, she heads to the living room to see her daughter, falling to her knees. Grace wakes Sophia up and they hug. Meanwhile, Mae texts Kevin to not tell Charity about what happened to Mac. Mae doesn’t want Charity worrying herself about this, trying to prove her worth.
In their wing, Grace asks where Sophia where she was. Sophia tells Grace she was with Zora at the studio with Zora’s boyfriend and her phone died. Zora and her boyfriend had an issue where they argued and Zora needed a ride home.
Grace tells her she was really worried about her, which led her going over to Mac’s house. She also tells her daughter that she doesn’t know if she’ll go to jail after what happened.
When Grace gets to her bathroom, she struggles to get undressed, examining all of her wounds, but eventually gets in the shower. She stands under the shower head and washes all of the blood from her body. As this happens, she begins to cry from the stress of everything that occurred.
Grace manages to find bed-clothes and sleeps. Her phone alarm wakes her up hours later.
Kevin takes his son to housekeeping to look after him as he leaves, until Mae wakes up.
Jacob gets help for a proposal to his father, and Mae and James debate what Grace should do.
Jacob is with his wife Kerissa going over what to he is going to say to Bishop Skanks about the land. His wife lets him know he can handle whatever Skanks throws at him.
Mae and James are talking about the incident over breakfast as Mae holds their grandson. Mae thinks Grace should head to work with her head held high, as a hero. James thinks that she may need some time away due to the circumstances surrounding Mac’s death but Mae thinks Grace is a fighter.
“God gave you the strength to prevail.” – Mae
Grace joins them at breakfast with her healing injuries. She overheard Mae calling her a hero but isn’t so sure she really feels that way, saying, “You almost sound convinced, mama.” Their attorney walks in and tells them he’s looking for Kevin, and lets Grace know they will go over the statement she will give police. Mae then tells Grace not to have regrets.
“Don’t you give an inch today. No apologies, no regrets.” – Mae
Charity believes she and Kevin should remain friends.
Charity is with Jabari at the studio in Nashville finishing up a song. When she gets a break, she calls Kevin to see how their baby is doing. Kevin tells her that Mac is dead from the altercation he had with Grace. Kevin told her because he knows she doesn’t like being left out of major things.
Charity breaks down in tears and thanks him for telling her. She asks how Grace is doing and Kevin tells her she’s tough.
She tells Kevin that she is going to rush home as soon as she can. She also thinks they could be friends still, despite divorcing. Kevin winced at the notion and sheds a tear too.
“I know its been really hard breaking up and moving out… But I think this could work out, us being friends like this.” – Charity
Although he’s hurting, he tells her he agrees.
Bishop James isn’t enthusiastic about Jacob’s proposal.
Grace gets to church and sees Jacob. They hug in the hallway and he tells her he’s glad she killed Mac because he was a bad person. He walks with Grace to her office and tells Grace he’s got some news to tell their father about. When she gets to the office, she sees Darius waiting on her. They hug when she gets in.
Mae is in her office calling her sister Mavis. She gets her voice mail and hangs up.
Grace is in the sanctuary with Darius to discuss what happened. He tells Grace that she should haven’t have any issues proving self-defense. However, Grace isn’t sure.
“Your mouth to God’s ears.” – Grace
Darius assures her she will be fine and says that Mac was a bad guy.
“It good that he’s gone. It’s good you’re still here.” – Darius
Jacob meets with his dad to tell him that he is possession of the deed. He assures James that Pastor Skanks is out-of-the-way and the lands is his.
“We have the opportunity to build something together.” – Jacob
However, he wants to do this under the pretense of becoming co-pastor. His dad isn’t too excited about the proposal.
“I need a co-pastor like I need a cane to walk with.” – Pastor Greenleaf
Aaron heads into Kevin’s office and sees boxes packed. He calls Kevin but gets his voicemail.
Graces gets pressed by the detective.
Zora and Sophia are talking, recapping what happened at the studio. Sophia criticizes Zora for allowing her boyfriend to dog her at the studio in front of everybody. She insists Zora break up with him because she doesn’t feel like he respects her. Zora apologizes for everything, and agrees to dump her boyfriend but she makes Sophia agree to helping find a new bae.
Grace is at the office with Aaron. Aaron tells Grace to say she was in fear of her life, believing she would die. He also advises going against the statements she originally gave.
When she gets into the office, the Detective presses her. He tries to get her to say when she called 911, but Aaron jumps in, saying the meeting is over. The detective says, “I know, I just ended it,” and walks out.
Grace has a bad feeling about the outcome of the sit-down.
Jacob and his wife are recapping Jacob’s meeting with his father, and she suggests she goes to the TV of Life guy for a TV deal. Jacob dismisses the idea initially because he didn’t like that they were asked if they wanted to “swing.” However, he comes up with another idea, as she passes Jacob a sandwich.
At the church, Pastor Greenleaf meets with Grace to recap what happened with the Detective. When he asks what happened, she lets him know that they know about her harassing Mac. Pastor lets her know the they will do everything they can to keep her out of jail.
She also asks Pastor to do whatever he can to keep Sophia away from her father. She doesn’t want to lose custody. He tells Grace that she isn’t going to be charged for anything.
Kevin confronts his homosexual support group counselor.
Kevin walks into his old Same-Sex class and yells out that he screwed up. When the counselor walks up to Kevin to calm him down, he gets even more upset.
“It doesn’t work! This whole thing is a lie!” – Kevin
He then berates the counselor for what happened with him and Aaron. When the counselor says he just has to do the work, he yells, “That’s a lie!”
He then storms out.
Grace heads to the sanctuary and prays for forgiveness and help with her situation.
“I’m so sorry I tried to do the right thing. You know my heart Lord. You know my heart. Thank you. But don’t take my daughter away.” – Grace
Charity learns that Kevin ran away.
Later that night, Charity makes it home and consoles Grace. She tells Grace that Kevin told her what happened. Grace asks about what happened in Nashville, and Charity is hesitant to talk about it. After some coaxing, she lets them know that everything in Nashville went well with Jabari and they want her to record more songs for an album. When they are done talking, Charity goes off to see her baby.
Mae jokingly tells Grace that she spoiled Grace’s trip, and it’s clear that they all suspect Charity may have a thing for Jabari.
However, When Charity gets to their quarters, she sees Kevin packed his things and leaves a note. She reads the note and cries.
In their quarters, Pastor ask Mae if did anything wrong. Mae reveals that Mac wasn’t always the way he was.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but that man wasn’t always the Devil he became.” – Mae
She also blames their father for how Mac turned out because their father molested her. Bishop consoles her.
Grace is haunted by Mac from beyond the grave.
Grace hears a knock at her door and it’s Aaron. He tells them police aren’t going to press any charges against her. Aaron is relived but Grace is still in shock.
“Well you know what they say; sometimes the bear gets you. And sometimes, you get the bear.” – Aaron
The episode ends with Grace heading to a balcony on the lake. She stares out onto the lake grateful for everything. But, she hears a voice. It’s Mac taunting her from beyond the grave.
“You know how many times I prayed not to go to jail? Hundreds.” – Mac
She turns around in fear and sees no one there.

I wasn’t really surprised about Mae’s father. I kind of figured that.

This episode was an eye opener it opened up all the different avenues that the writers could take this show just to tease our minds I’m looking forward to seeing more!!
